FWBF & All The Young Dudes

A few days ago, I listened to Mott The Hoople's "All The Young Dudes", a tune which was penned in 1972 by David Bowie and became their one and only n°1 hit single.
Don't you think "Friends Will Be Friends" bears a strong resemblance with this song? The guitar intro and sound, the composition structure, the lyrics (similar theme), even the melody...
There have always been strong connections between Queen, Mott The Hoople and Bowie, as we all know: Queen played as opening act for Mott back in 1973, for instance.
John and Freddie wrote FWBF BUT I'm not accusing them of plagiarism. Maybe they were influenced, and that's it and didn't even notice the resemblance after recording the song...
What do you think about it?

To be nitpicky, ATYD wasn't #1, as far as I know it peaked at #3

Neeeh.

Apart from all musical differences All The Young Dudes is a hunderd times better than Friends Will be Friends.

They sound nothing alike! But the guitar does sound like Brian May.

They both have the same anthem-like sound. They seem to emphasize something in the chorus: while ATYD is a call to all the young fellows, FWBF sounds more like a conclusion, a fact of life, a word of wisdom.
And they both fit the Glam-rock era, although there are some 13 years between them.
So ATYD is OK for those times, FWBF is a little msfited. A good stadium buster after all. Never liked it that much though. I'd fancy "In only seven days" by the same songwriter.

If you think that FWBF sounds like "...Dudes" ( I dont personally) then you should check out Oasis' Stand By Me. It completely rips the song off...
