For Adam and the others interested in such stuff, the re-master was done by Bob Ludwig, a respected industry legend. Not sure how JSS did as I haven't heard the other DVD-A discs, but from Adam's comments this appears to be excellent news. Still unsure of purchasing it though :(
You know, good times are now.
Good God! You mean... honestly..? This isn't the 2001 remaster?! Hurrah! For that alone, my faith in this release just went up a bit more. I'm definitely getting this one now. Extras be-damned, I just don't care. As long as the price is right for the set, I ain't complainin'!

Peace,
Adam.
Adam, if you go to Brian's site, they have pics of the package, and it's blurry, but it definitely says that it was "stunningly remastered by Bob Ludwig." Just out of curiousity, as I've seen Bob Ludwig's name on tons of releases, what would he bring to it that JSS wouldn't?

Bob did all the mastering for 'The Game' DVD-A I believe, so they must have liked the results. I personally prefer the 2001 remaster of that to the PCM on the DVD-A though. That one (The Game) and NOTW are the two best 2001 remasters IMO.

ANATO seems to be a bit iffy on any remaster I've heard though. I haven't really picked a favourite.
The only thing that kind of makes me wanna check it out is audio commentary...

Has it been released yet? I went to Barnes and Noble to find it but they didnt have it. When does the US get it?
Well here's my counter-offer... do I have to kill you? What if I were just to kick the ever loving shit out of you?
I hope that this time we get the remaster that I've been waiting for...

Of course we won't. They will fuck it up somehow so you need to buy the 40th anniversary edition :-)

Anyone think they might be abandoning DVD-A because of its possible death in the marketplace? They can do their DTS mixes on a regular DVD instead.. perhaps we'll start getting new "videos" for all album tracks ;)

In stores here, it's increasingly hard to find DVD-A. Circuit City told me they stopped ordering them and only have a few left, just mixed in with the CDs.. no more section for them.. and at Best Buy, they have a dwindling section which is always 90% empty. There's maybe 5 to choose from.

SACD seems to do slightly better.. perhaps 50 choices and all stocked. :(
Best Buy in Vegas had dozens the other week.
I think there will be a market for Blu-Ray audio discs (partly since Universal Music is part of the Blu-Ray Group), when the format comes out next Spring.

I brought up the possibility of (re-)releasing the whole Queen audio and video catalogue on BD with Justin Shirley-Smith, and this is what he had to say:

"We are looking at the new formats with interest - but nothing planned yet - there are many possibilities such as being able to get decent HD pictures (with multi-angles) along with high res audio (in all formats at once!) The menus will probably be better too."

What interests me about that is how he says "in all formats at once!"...
Is it me, or might that indicate possible usage of Dolby Digital (both standard and the new lossless format called Dolby TrueHD) on a Queen product at last??
