Sounds just like you're asking for the single mix! 'Fraid that's been done lol! :) There's not much I would want to do with it, except perhaps add some of the instrumental bits from the Karaoke mix, but that sort of thing is getting a bit boring now. Maybe someone has some ideas, but my comment about cutting it by 4 minutes still seems like the best idea to me - I hate the bloody thing!

Hehe, that's why the single version (which is an edited version of the extended version) is the popular choice. It's available on Greatest Hits II for Europe and elsewhere, or the Hollywood "Greatest Hits" in America.

Point of (no?) interest: The cassette of "Greatest Hits" HR edition uses the album version(!)
I know, because I borrowed it from my local library back when they used to have cassettes, which was ages ago.

Yeah, not to brag or anything, but I've mentioned a few times that a letter I wrote to Hollywood records resulted in the song being included at all.

I wrote, complaining that the single version wasn't available here, they wrote back saying "We received the 4:21 version from Queen today. It'll be included on the forthcoming Greatest Hits, but the cassette version will feature the album version"

Or words to that effect. Their version is indeed a few seconds longer than the Greatest Hits II version (even 2001 remaster) which is 4:17/4:18 depending on how anal you are about exact time. Hollywood's runs 4:21/4:22.

I figure they also used their own edit of Fat Bottomed Girls on the cassette version.. did they? They obviously didn't have the true single version, as the Greatest Hits video features their own edit (ends cold instead of fading).

If I had the cassette (which is long gone from the library now), I could tell you.

Actually, IWTBF was the only one I noticed was different from the CD counterpart, but again I could be wrong, as it WAS years ago that I borrowed the cassette the one time.

I've actually been toying with the idea of guitaring the song up a bit. I know people might look at that as blasphemy... heh. Who knows.

I don't think you could make it any worse than it already is, Zeb! Lol! ;)
