How Ironic that a bubblegum pop band like ABBA won't allow anyone (except Madonna) to sample their songs, yet Led Zeppelin through Jimmy Page had no problem on allowing a media whore like P.Diddy to sample 'Kashmir' and completely ruin an all time rock n' roll masterpiece.

I like ABBA too, and nevertheless they're brilliant for writing so many chart topping hits. Yet, I have to admit a lot of their songs seem very disposable.
i've loved madonna since i was a teenager, but i could care less about all her born again kaballa shite, the new song is allright and nothing more i love that she's very bendable but i still think she really needs to learn how to dance properly ROLLS EYES....

And Madonna has always been one of my top 10 favorite singers.
I have every album by her, think she's a totally innovative singer, image chamelian, very bussiness savvy and knows how to reinvent herself.
I adore Like A Prayer (which she stole the show with at Live 8), Cherish, Express Yourself, Crazy For You, Dress You Up, Papa Don't Preach, Borderline, Open Your Heart, Vogue, Take A Bow, Lucky Star, and more.
But yes, she is getting awful preachy and soapboxy lately and has a habit of putting other artists down in an admonishing way like Elton John has been doing of late, and all her Jewish Kabalah stuff is as whacked out as Scientology.

Arlene, do you watch NBC's Today show in the mornings? The week they've been explaining the "secrets" of certain popular religions. Today they did Kabalah. They had an "instructor" on today and he was asked the significance of the red yarn bracelet. Katie Couric pointed out that the bracelet costs $26. She wanted to know why it was that expensive and where the money goes. She asked this bc the head of the Kabalah faith in Isreal was recently arrested for soliciting a donation from a cancer patient and in turn, he promised the patient a cure for the cancer. The Kabalah instructor told Katie the bracelets are so expensive bc they all originate from the West Bank in Isreal where they are blessed. The instructor said that the area of the West Bank is very dangerous and the bracelets have to be taken in in armored vehicles, etc. So then Katie keeps asking where the proceeds of the bracelets go after those expenses are taken care of. The instructor just says, "various families that we care for." He went on to point out that they are not-for-profit. Katie also asked where the proceeds from all the books they sell for $50-$60 each go. You could tell the instructor was very umcomfortable!!
To each their own about religion, but I just can't stand the fact that most religions are very concerned with money and how much you are able to bring in to their organization. Not all churches are this way. I have a good friend who's aunt died recently....I won't name the denomination of the church but the church would not allow her to have the funeral service of her aunt in their church bc she had not tithed in the past months. She had not tithed bc she was very ill in the hospital. Never mind that she left 20% of her fortune to the church in her will.
What was it that Roger said about religion...it tends to.................

Although I have to admit liking some Madonna songs, I certainly can't have much respect for her because she built a career based far more based on image than talent.
I know ALL artists have in some way or another the tendency to sell an image, but as long as the MUSIC is put above the image then artists won't lose their focus of what they're trying to sell.
Madonna slowly brought different degrees of controversy to remain in the media spotlight, and things go to an extreme point where nobody gave a shit about what Madonna did or not. Then Madonna realized that she had no choice but to re-invent herself to the complete opossite of what she used to be. In all sense she's nothing but a hypocrite always trying to pretend to be someone she's not. Will the public ever get to know the real Madonna? Probably not.
