It seems that an advertisement for Mr Brooks has been placed on "Queenonline".

"Queen Memorabilia Wanted!"

Conveniently, it also seems that we over here on Queenzone, are either not worthy, or serious collectors.

You can read the full thread here, but as for me, I say "sod 'em!".

A letter from Greg Brooks.

Dear All,

I WANT IT ALL! Four decades of Queen memorabilia

The book was originally going to focus ONLY upon Brian's material, but he has now suggested that we might use other beautiful items as well, even if they are not owned by him. This is so that certain great items we know about, but do not actually have, can also be featured and this book can be complete and definitive.

The book will still be 95 percent Brian May Queen collection, but we do also want to include some of those other fabulous and rare treasures...

If you want to contribute to this, we are looking ONLY for mega-rare treasures that will look great on the page - the above items, plus anything else. Not ordinary items that lots of people have and which we all see all the time at fares.

Please send me scans of anything you think we should consider. Scans only please, not just written details.
"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."
I make an offer - as a revenge we can send them BPP to join QOL and show them all his brutality (we can say that it was GB who introduced PR to Brian and Roger, it'd be enough for our police officer)...

Well, seriously. Is it only on forum or on QOL too? Such letters must be posted on QOL (BM.com, OIQFC) but not only on its forum, IMHO. Otherwise it goes like ALL Queen fans must be on QOL forum... What an arrogance!
Hold on a minute John. I posted that e mail over at QOL (I changed my name to 'Bye'..as I am out of that place now...and that's what it was a 'Bye Bye').

I think he has sent it to many people...and he asks that it is spread around. I for my part posted it on the board that I post on. I felt sure that someone would post it here (and you have done)...but please, don't blame Greg for this one..that's really not fair at all.
Greggy has also had it posted on Brian's website too.

As much as I would love a book precisely like the kind they're apparently working on, I can't conceive of myself lifting a finger to help Greg Brooks in any way, shape or form. He revealed himself to be an asshole of biblical proportions on this very site. Surely he knows how many bridges he has burned in the Queen fan community simply by being himself. What a lousy guy to have representing your organization. They might as well have hired Pol Pot to handle fan public relations.

And how sucky that the book won't be out til next Christmas (if then)? I hope I live that long.
Blow it out your ass.
There are, for sure, more serious collectors on here..

Sorry to hear that you are leaving Queenonline, however, as usual, you will always be welcome here.

But my beef is not with you FD, because as I see it, yet again it seems QPL have undertaken an amatuerish way of doing things.

In my opinion, as an individual, if "I" desired a certain "collectable", I would "advertise" everywhere - even in hell if needs be - wouldn't you?

I would be on all the major Queen sites, (including Queenonline) metaphorically shouting from the rooftops, or waving gigantic banners in letters twenty feet high if needed.

I would contact all know "big collectors" and advertise in both the local and musical press. But, then again I am only an individual with limited time and financial resources.

Yet the whole might of the Queen-machine muscle amounts to no more than a cottage industry?

Why NOT PERSONALLY advertise on QueenOnline or Queenzone and other major internet Queen sites?

My beef is with QPltd. I have not hidden the fact that I own many rarities, my e-mail address is public, (and furthermore I have supplied the company with rarities in the past), yet, they do not contact me, nor the very audience that would yield the greatest results. Furthermore, some individuals in here, are bigger collectors than I am, why not e-mail them too?

Chr*st, they know how to e-mail to tell me that Queen+ Paul Rodgers tickets are for sale, or when some stupid woman Roger sang on tour with is releasing a CD, so why not mail me as an idividual asking about memorabilla - or is it that there is NO profit margins in such mail-shots?

If QPltd REALLY desire, then do not stand around with mouths open expecting golden apples to fall from trees - trawl a little! God, they certainly have the finance and teams to do so, so why the half-assed attempt to look for memorabillia - when it could be done so much more effectively on a proper and professional basis?

Again, this is not a dig at any individual (besides a servant is only as good as his employee), but at a faceless corporation so sadly out of touch with both reality and it's hardcore fan base.

In fairness, John, I spend enough time whining about people posting links to Brian's site on the basis that most of us would spot it, so I disagree that there is any suggestion of a slight towards QZ.

Personally, I'm gutted that my Game mirror broke, although I know it's not the best example out there.
Oh, and I would rather swallow any past disagreement than see an incomplete book that I could have completed.

You talk a great deal of sense John. QP do act like amateurs sometimes.

By the way...I do not know Greg, and I have never met him. I have e mailed him back to tell him that you have some stuff that may be of interest though...and that in my opinion he should e mail you. Whether he does or not is up to him.
Why not take some pictures and post them on QOL anyway John...that would really set your collection posts alight!
PG & FD: To be fair, I agree with both of you. You make sense, and I respect your opinions.

I think that growing up with Queen, I know the care, and dedication they used to take before releasing a product. In the words of "Killer Queen", "Fastidious and precise...".

Now-a-days, I find I settle for the dregs of a fine wine - more my fault than theirs, I agree - but let's be honest here – officially downloading a pirated version of a commercial DVD, which Brian slated on his home page as not meeting the criteria for the official stamp of approval, is, (in my mind) the lowest of a long line of corporate cock-ups, which we can not keep pardoning both Roger and Brian from. As Truman once famously said, “The buck stops here”, and it can go no higher than our jovial Queen chappies.

I know, that this project is advertised on Brian’s homepage, and (via FD) Queenonline, but how much more personal, warm and friendly would it be for either Brian or Greg to ask in here in person? It would not have taken too much energy or effort, and may even help narrow the increasing gulf I see between the “common” fan and their god-like heroes. Or, am I expecting too much?

In any case, I wish the project well, and hope that it succeeds in all that it sets out to do, and hope that those who are able to contribute, are willing to do so.

I AGREE 100% - THIS GUY IS A DICK.

Ok OK, I guess I should not be so rude and blunt (coz really it is not my nature) it is just I had come from Brian's website and read this posting he had put on there wanting FANS to ONCE AGAIN give him what he wants. That is fine, but with QP it is all "take take take" and "no give" - I think Greg has done no favours to us fans that have given in the past and have been "shafted" in one way or another - that is why I got angry and I know I am not the only one that has had this experience. I shall never ever share anything with QP again, based solely on Mr Brooks - and that is pretty sad, coz I love the band so much - but there is a limit to how much some can take and how much one can stand being disappointed time and time again and left feeling rather used.

When assigning blame, let's not forget St. John the Deacon, He Who Does No Wrong By Doing Nothing. Brian and Roger at least work for a living. From what I can tell, John sits at home, collects a check and let's Brian and Roger do all the heavy lifting (and take all the criticism). "Queen Productions Chief of Quality Control" seems like a nice quiet office job JD could handle with ease were he so interested. Let's start a petition!
