I think an outdoor venue is out since I think they will tour early spring.
Are any venues nice? I hate the Alstate arena but it is the size they are probably shooting for- The US Cellular Area aka MECCA in MKE is great (Queen has played there a few times 1980, 1977/78?) Alliant Energy Center aka as Dane Co.

The All State Arena, formerly the Horizon, was visited by Queen in 1980, and Brian severely critiqued it during his intro to LoML).
Brian played the outdoor New World Music Theatre (now the Tweeter Center) in 1998 as part of RockStock, and surely must be aware of its crappy sound.
The United Center might be ok (which was built next to the demolished Stadium played by Queen in the 70's), but the United Center is a basketball/hockey arena ... so the sound is probably average at best.
Of course, Sears turned the wonderful Poplar Creek (played by Queen in 1982) into a parking lot for their world headquarters ...

By Heartland, I bet Brian meant mostly non-Atlantic or non-Pacific coasts for Canada & USA.Of course, Boston, Philly, DC, Miami, SanDiego, San Fran, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver are possible exceptions to the rule.

Since Paul has been treading the boards in the Northwest the past few years besides the casinos and BBQs a real possibilty for Seattle/Vancouver. That would be cool--my bro-in -law lives out that way..never been there.

I don't necessarily think Brian meant the "heartland" states, when he was speaking of the tour. I have to wonder if the tour would be sponsered by Vh1 Classic, since they made an appearance on there. It would get lots of promotion, if it was. I'm gonna be analyzing this all fall and winter..*sigh* ;-)

well this makes the post go bad....Brian says they arent really fit to do another tour- i dont blame him, he seems kind of upset though that he hasnt been feeling well, i think he mid-life crisis is hitting? :(

Ok ...the QPR tour.
It was weird .. the first part of the tour so spaced out, because of the vast and rather impractical distances involved, and the second half, in Japan, highly intensive, with only a few days off. You might think that the first would have been the easiest, but not so. We had worked hard to plan, and rehearse, and get fit for this tour. But there is nothing that compares with DOING it, getting a few shows under the belt, to really get in gear. To my mind we were not able to work up enough momentum to do our best in the USA. I'm happy that folks liked it, but I want to do better. I struggled with physical problems all through this leg, and mentally I was not really on top either, especially in LA, strangely, one of my favourite places in the world. I actually didn't want to write about this while still out there ... I thought it would be distracting for those who read it and came to see us. Because all I wanted people to be thinking about was the pure music, and their own reactions to it. But now .... well, it may be interesting to analyse some of this. Certainly by the time we were a gig or two into Japan we had found a real confidence, and a skill which made us able to rise above the purely physical.
So I'm proposing to write ... in the next day or so ..... "A Second in the Life .. of a Guitarist". Watch this space ... well, if you got stuff to do ... come back soon ... !

Brian's comments are wonderful as they are from the heart and he is being honest with us. I see great opportunities for a possible tour next year sometime.
He says it all in the above comments from his Soapbox folks...read it again and get happy! He was not satisfied with his performance...and he is feeling a bit down about it which will surely drive him to want to have another try and make it "even better"!
I think they did a awesome job....and although it was very obvious that Brian was extremely moved by the whole experience it did not himder his performance, it enhanced it. Everyone who was at the Arena that incredible night in NJ will know this to be true, but we ALL were feeling the emotion toghter. It was fantastic...and something i won't soon forget anytime soon. You could'nt help but get wrapped up in the intense level of emotion that was sweeping through the crowd. The slow clapping the eager audience did before the show started really got the juices flowing and the adreneline hit a peak when "It's a Beautiful Day" hit our ears. What a intro!
The Phoenix rose again from the ashes of the past in Jersey that night, and by God it was incredible!
We can only pray it will happen again....i have a very good feeling it WILL.

Brian is so sincere. He's still the perfectionist and still puts himself down after all these years...when he shouldn't! He is brilliant and always puts on an excellent performance wherever he is. Artists and musicians love to analyze themselves to death..."What did I do wrong? How can I do it better next time? Why am I beating myself up over this?" Really! Brian has no need to do that. He is a true god in the music world and people would love him even if he broke five strings in the middle of a solo and ended up playing with only one. God love the guy, he is SO human!!!
