I must admit I've got and read (several times now) Mercury and Me, It's very well written and you can tll that it was written with the collaboration of somebody who really did care for and love Freddie a lot. Highly recommend it.

It's very rarely that anybody in the music world has the literary talent to write a decent autobiography. I think the three of them (yes, I DO think that for this project, that would be very possible), should team up with a good ghost-writer and editor and do a project worthy of the subject.
I think a three-volume project would be good. Beginnings to 1980, 1981 to 90, 1991 to present day with an extensive section on solo work.
Any more than three volumes, I think they'd get bored.
Anyway, as usual that's my tuppence worth. Y'all are welcome to disagree, but as usual, while I support and welcome your right to do so, I won't give a fuck. :-D

Just wait until Pete Townshend releases his - THAT will be the benchmark for ANY autobiography. Should be available next year depending on whether he takes the time to finish it above his commitments to the band.

See, that's why i wrote "I think" at the start...it's only my opinion. But I disagree. I think there will be a time when the three of them - perhaps in about five/ten years - will put pen to paper. I think the catalyst may well be if another one of them dies. Sorry to sound so morbid, but I think a time of reflection - and not any pecuniary interest - will be the laxative that moves their literary bowel.
As for Townshend's bio...well....I'll believe it when I see it. When I started getting into the bass, and was into a lot of Entwistle's stuff, John was supposed to be pulling a lot of material together for a 'istory of the 'oo.
That was nearly 15 years ago.

Well, he's committed to it emotionally now; since the events of 2002, he's used it as something of a self-healing process and I believe he will complete that process now that Rachel has provided the final piece of stability he has been looking for.

I saw the manuscript in 2000 - it was absolutely ENORMOUS. And it still wasn't finished. The beauty of it was that there wasn't a great emphasis on Keith - well, there was, but not in the way that most people would "like" to have thought. It was / is a true and honest account - John's memories and thoughts from his time in the band. I'm hoping that we can get hiw work published "as is", but again, lawyers and "other people" will have their say first......

Who's "we"?
I liked Phoebe's book, the stories about birthdays, decorating houses, customizing kitchens and gardens, and he did give a little character insight: Freddie's need for conflict to spark his creativity, unwillingness to get involved if he didn't feel confident about the outcome etc. If the book was a movie, it would probably be like Pulp Fiction -- out of time sequence, loads of drugs, fancy dancing with a female confidant, and spectacular bondage action ;)
