Of course Paul is not (and will never be) like Freddie, that's not what he's trying to do...
They are just trying to make us happy with their appearance...

Of course they're not the same, the music's not the same: the sound is mixed differently, highlighting Roger's drums and Brian's guitar... Paul's voice there is very important too, but what they want to tell us is that they Still ALIVE!!

I'm very happy to see Roger play I'm In Love With My Car..! He's still have a great voice (try to imagine Freddie singing without that high backing notes that Roger sang...), even without singin as high as he did in the past...

And so i'm glad to see Brian singing '39...

I just think we must pay attention to Roger and Brian, cos' they're great musicians.
That's what they want us to do: watch'em, not compare Paul and Freddie..

Just think about that..! =)

Who hates Freddie?

I didn't hear anyone say they hated Freddie (except vivival or whatever its name is)
I heard people say they liked Paul Rodgers but that doesn't imply a hatred of Freddie.(it does illustrate Zarathustra II's faulty all or nothing logic)
Enjoying one person's music does not exclude the ability to appreciate and enjoy the music of another.
Personally I liked ROTC but I thought the high point of ROTC was Reaching Out.
I also would have liked Freddie to live longer and to have produced more music.
At least Q+PR are keeping Freddie's music and memory alive. Also Brian & Roger being inspired to play again is a good thing.
I don't see anything about hating Freddie here.

I dont really like Paul's voice but I let my dad borrow ROTC and he wont put it down!

If you have not listened to Queen in a while, you might temporarily think that Paul Rodgers is ok. But go back and listen to The Real Thing and I can assure that you will realize your mistake.

I think this anniversary in particular will help some people to remember who the real queen frontman was.

I understand where your anger comes from. On the other hand, if you paid money in order to see Paul Rodgers replace Freddie Mercury, then you have betrayed Freddie and you should feel ashamed of yourself.

yawn...the Queen + PR argument....you all know my opinion, and that's that. It hasn't changed and it won't change...

I'm kinda new at this, but I've read basically all that's been said here, so I'm not gonna repeat something over used or anything...
Just my opinion, I'm one of those who wouldn't pay to see Queen without Freddie, and with another singer, because for me Queen was Freddie. Without him, you have amazingly talented musicians, but you don't have the flame... that's all... I respect Brian and Roger, I really do. But I couldn't...

"Queen" was like a trade mark that implied perfection, creativity, quality, luxury, beauty, greatness, stardom,...

Now with "Queen+Paul Rodgers" this label is extremely damaged.

Q+PR is substandard, old, boring, pathetic, small, ...not worth the money

In other words:
You can't promote a Ferrari with an engine and a chassis from an old Rover and ask for the same price.
You can't even achieve the same price for a pure new Ferrari afterwards.

Paul isnt trying to murder Queen's music. He is trying to help.

He is also providing an opportunity for younger fans who were learning not to put their fingers in electrical outlets when Freddie died.

I don't actually see a problem if Paul really replaces Freddie, I mean A LOT of bands have done it and it has worked well, of course I prefer the Freddie era, but he's not here anymore and I don't want all this to end "The show must go on". Deep Purple, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin etc. etc. all of them have replaced members without a problem.

Look what Run DMC did for AEROSMITH. Paul is giving new fans an opportunity and old fans a new outlook.

what the f**k? the set list is pretty similar to that of 1986, in regards to queen material, just a few songs added from after 1986.

did you actually go to a concert? one of the most envigorating (sp?) experiences of my life? i agree, ROTC is not that great, cos it didn't seem to capture that excitement in my view. but still a great purchase, to capture a piece of rock history on tape, and the sound is very well mastered, so very easy to watch.
