Stupid question, but what magical privelidges does the special Platinum Laminate provide? Is there really a backstage meeting?
Do I at least get to carry a road case or something?

No backstage meet and greet. If you are lucky, you will get to peep into an empty dressing room.

We got to LOOK at a bunch of roadie cases. Just like the ones I used to use for trade shows when I worked in telecom. I could have made a fortune letting people come see them. AND I'd have given each visitor a bottle of salad dressing.
The magical privileges the laminate bestows on you are that some people assume you are somehow connected with the band when you are wearing a laminate that appears to also be somehow associated with the band. Of course the people you might WANT to think you are somehow associated with the band know better.
Basically you are buying a good seat.
