Set List

Fenderek--absolutely.

Frankly, in a perfect world, I would have QPR set aside an additional night a couple of times in a few of the major cities whereby they do a "nostalgia" show--playing some of the best (musically), generally lesser known material from both Queen's and Paul's catalogues. Some of the greatest material from both catalogues hasn't been played in years. Knowing that Paul is limited by a general want of the people to play his "hits" and that he has a true desire to play some of those "masterpiece" works which get no airtime, coupled with Brian and Roger's inkling to try new things, that would be unbelievable. I see absolutely no reason why they can't have a rolling setlist, sporadically trying and bringing out some of Queen's best material as well as some of those spine-chilling Free songs.

This was originially an experiment, QPR. Now that they have fine-tuned the songs which sound best and have the essential confidence--and general support from the fans--why the hell can't this happen? We may never get to hear this stuff sounding as good as it can (given the circumstances) ever again. I long for the day when classic rock gets its due renaissance--such a setup could be a catalyst (with proper promotion) to get it started. Queen covers by bands today are happening all over the place. This is good. Paul got a crappy cover of Feel Like Makin' Love from Kid Rock. A nice gesture, really, but I thought that sucked.

I will agree, the majority of Paul's material from Bad Company is far less technically sound than the bulk of Queen's songs--when juxtaposed with each other, this distinction is clearly evident. Yet, such was the beast of Bad Company songs--the simplicity somehow really hit home. While QPR's spin on that material makes it that much better (mainly Bri's playing), some essence of that Bad Co material is still lost in some fashion. Play that more technical, gritty Free back catalogue to really complement Queen's songs. And, get out those said Queen songs from the past to make this upcoming tour surreal.

If someone disagrees with me, I want to hear it. I know this is SO far-fetched, but in some sort of way, the possibility and chance of this type of thing happing, albeit small, certainly exists.

I expect: Somebody to Love, Sleeping on the Sidewalk, Is this the World we Created. And an extra Paul song

If I think about it seriously, the only song I'm absolutely sure that Paul rodgers would nail is It's Late. That would be a perfect addition as far as I'm concerned. as for the rest, I just hope if they change it up, its not too heavy on Pauls material. I think they got the balance right in Europe, people arent paying all this money to see Paul, they are paying it to see Queen.
Here in Canada Under Pressure is played constantly on the radio so I wouldnt be surprised to see that, after all they did play it a couple of times but some of the other big radio hits that they havent been playing, such as Killer Queen and Keep Yourself alive I just cant imagine Paul singing.
Truth is, as far as radio is concerned, Queen finished with Under Pressure, I've lived here 8 years and I've only ever heard 3 tracks from The Works onwards on classic rock radio. I want It All, Hammer to fall and Thank God It's Christmas which actually gets quite a few plays.
Hammer to Fall gets played quite often at Ottawa Senators hockey games though!
Oh and I have seen Radio Ga ga on video a few times, I think it was maybe a bigger hit in Canada than in the US.

Rock n Roll Fantasy - Bad Company

I'm looking forward to seeing Queen and Paul Rodgers at Nassau Coliseum. I saw Paul with The Firm there in 1986!

I had a dream last night that Paul sang "Hangman"...

Personally, I think some of the earlier sorta-bluesy stuff might suit him well. "Son and Daughter", maybe?

Yesterday I played Son and Daughter (Live at the Rainbow) and I thought Paul could do that one. But it's not the most popular Queen song, so no chance they'll play it.

I like those too, but i listened to much of Paul's better known material a few day ago and i really don't think those two would fit to the Q of QPR.

I guess The Firm stuff might do... Brian can certainly make up for Jimmy Page.

I've said what I would like in the past. Instead of repeating myself, I will just say that, in principle, in philosophy, I would dearly love to see them prioritize Paul's cover abilities over the need to play hits.
