Also I don't think it was a choice of desperation or lack of material. With a 100 more song to chose from I think the line up would be the same. The only note i'd make would be is that the "I can't live with you" on '97s "Rocks" CD is quite good too.

I too think it was always written for his cat, but by removing exact "cat" clues I thought it was about a woman at first (hence the double ententre). It's like when Brian said it was an interesting challege to have written lyrics for Freddie (when he knew Freddie was into men) so that the lyrics were more "universal" (i.e, could be take either way for a guy or girl he would be singing about). [Said in some Guiter Magazine around Innuendo, but I think after Freddies Death]. :{)

P.s. How do you properly "grab" quotes of other "chat members" to answer?

The Innuendo cd is so intense I almost have a heart attack each time I listen to it. Delilah is a light relief, and it definitely shows off Freddie's musical range.

It's adorable. I mean what rock star can say they have written a song about a cat? It's adorable. But the meowing bit is a bit embarrising when people are in the same room, but it's still sweet. Shows a gentle side even though we all know Freddie was really genorous. And what's this all about the illness and that's the only reason he could have had to write it. Most of Queen's songs are mysterious and you don't know why they've been writen but we love them anyway. What if 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was written when he was ill, would you say ''it's because of the illness'' then? I love 'Delilah'.

i think its nice he put -what seems to be- personal experiences he had with Delilah in the song

I used to think in We Will Rock You, Freddie was singing, "Kicking your cat all over the place," and I thought, gosh, he loved cats. Why would he want to sing about someone kicking their cat. Oh, dear.

I like the song, but the meowing is a bit much. It's kind of a guilty pleasure; I hope no one else one can hear it while I'm listening to it.

I heard Roger walked out of the sessions in frustration when it came time to do those absurd "miaow" backing vocals.

Personally, I'm indifferent to it, but I do think it would've been better as a non-album B-side. Give me 'Self-Made Man' over 'Delilah' any day.

Good point Lester. I think Self Made Man really had the foundation for a great song, and would have been a welcome addition to Innuendo. Leave Delilah as the b-side to say, These are The Days of Our Lives.
