I cannot fathom how ANYONE can say Coldplay has their own unique sound.....

I cannot fathom how ANYONE can say the Darkness sounds anything like Queen.

Perhaps the presentation is similar, but there are no parallels musically or lyrically - you'd never make the compariston from merely listening to the record.
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.

“Calling your child Apple? He’s terribly vain. I think he has a narcissism complex. He wants to be Bono, but he bleats in interviews about worrying about being ubiquitous. Make your fucking mind up. If you want to be a household name, be a household name.

Justin Hawkins
What a full of shit hypocrite is Justin Hawkins.

He's been ripping off Freddie Mercury far more than Chris Martin has been ripping off Bono. I don't like Coldplay that much except for 'Speed Of Sound', but I can tell you that even though their music is extremely dull and boring at least Coldplay doesn't carbon copy songs from other bands, unlike 'The Darkness'.
Are you really gonna sit there with a straight face and tell me that Chris Martin isn't a dead Bono wannabe? That Coldplay dosen't carbon copy U2 songs?

Puuuuuuuhlease....

Say what you want about Justin Hawkins, his point is still valid and dead to rights true.
I always thought that Coldplay sounds more like Radiohead than U2.

Coldplay is also a Radiohead ripoff....

Without a doubt.
