In the beginning lyrics of Another one bites the dust, who is Steve?

the origanal bassist for Queen was named somthing like steve and freddie hated him. maybe john was writing about the man he replaced?

Maybe steve is just a CHARACTER, like sammy from "Spread Your Wings"..?
