what was the longest live version and when did roger fell of stage
hi gane im here now awesome site
There was once a nine minute version of 'Champions', I think it was from 1986, when Freddie ran offstage to get his robe and crown but, mirroring a scene from This Is Spinal Tap, got incredibly lost in a maze of hallways. Meanwhile, Brian, Roger, and John, not quite sure where their vocalist went, continued to 'end' the song for nearly seven minutes, looking around at each other in confusion the whole time. Spike ran out from behind the keyboards to do a little soft-shoe, but Roger threw a cymbal at him and told him to fuck off back behind the keys.

As for Roger falling off his stool, that happened at every show, the clumsy fucker.
sorry, what is a soft-shoe?

Its either a form of dance (the soft shoe shuffle) or a pair of slippers - and in Spikes case I am sure that on this occassion it was the latter.

Haha, Spike doin soft-shoe...Well i think Roge had a legit reason for tellin him to fuck off, its almost embarassing enough when the vocalist disappears, why make it worse by havin someone doin a goofy dance to fill up time?? That would have been an early ashley simpson, however, there was no lipsynching involved. THANK GOD!!!
He falls off his stool?? Ive never heard that before. Hmm, id like to see that though!
That must have been fucking scary getting a cymbal thrown at you. Speaking of which, I was sitting out of waterpolo practice today and our pools next to the baseball field and a ball came over and nearly hit me in the face. It was funny, if it HAD hit me and I got knocked unconscious I still would have laughed.

which bootleg is it on?
I'm so glad you mentioned this story Lester.

As well as reminding me of that classic moment (I'll have to dig out that bootleg again) you seem to have brought it to the attention of a whole load of newbies who were somehow completely unaware of this lengendary moment in Queen history.

Well, it really was a valid and important question, and I just wanted to help out the darling little newbs who weren't quite aware that parody is based on reality. It's quite a humorous little story, but has been bastardized over the years, and I think it's time to set the record straight once and for all.

I can't remember the name of the bootleg, though; I know it exists, because I have it.
Actually, in all seriousness, I think the longest version is from 2 or 3 years ago, when the WWRY cast with Bri/Rog played it twice in a row! The second time was just one verse and two choruses.

I think Bohardy might know more than I would, as he gave me the bootleg first many, many years ago.
well for us "newbs" we need to be educated.
I mean its not my fault that i wasnt born early enough to see such historical events occur.
