converting FULL dvds into MPEG without it being split!

ok i need some help, i know that when we take files off a DVD it comes in a series of VOB files, splitting the movie apart, what i want to know is,:-

is there a way of converting the entire movie to Mpeg without it being split into many parts?

reason is i want to put a couple concerts on my new video i pod thing.

could you help me with my other problem? the converting of vob files but not recieving audio, or burning vob files and not reciving audio? cheers!
