In 1973, 1974, 1975, Freddie did not HAVE that kind of money. Afterwards, there were probably other things MORE IMPORTANT to him. He may have formally changed his name in some time, but DEFINATELY not in '71.
Moreover, it is IMPOSSIBLE to change your first name. One can ONLY change ones SURNAME. You can USE WHICHEVER FIRST NAME YOU LIKE WITHOUT ANY FORMAL CHANGE.
