Hello,

Perhaps this subject has been discussed, if so I'm sorry.

In most footage we have from Queen live (even back in VHS era) it is visible some sort of BANNER stage-left, almost near an stage exit, posted to the wall, saying what it looks to be "DUDS".

Does anyone knows what that's about?
Thanks.

There was the suggestion that it was for defective equipment i.e. mics that failed during a show. Not sure that was ever proved.
"It is better to sit in silence and have people think you're a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt"
it's from dictionary: 1. trousers. 2. clothes, especially old or ragged clothes. 3. belongings in general.
well just belongings
I believe you can see the sign with the same words on it on the LiveAid footage.
Wo ist das kamerahhhhhhhhhhh!!! NJ!!!
Duds are the microphones/bulbs etc which do not work.

The word duds is plural of dud.

A dud is defined as:

Therefore, it is a box for the electrical eqipment which does not work - and will be replaced, repaired or disposed of later.
