EXCELLENT, loved these mixes, how did you go about getting theses mixes done..(i.e removing vocals etc)?

I'd be very interested to find out how this was done....

Your mixes are great!

Hi, thanks for your kind comments. Most of the mixes I have done are from using the 5.1 channel mixes on the DVD-As (ANATO and The Game), the karaoke instrumental versions on the Japanese CD/DVD, and by taking bits from different versions of songs, and throwing them together.

With the 5.1 mixes, I used DVD Audio Extractor to separate the channels, and a mixture of Sony Soundforge, and Adobe Audition to create the edits, mixes and some sound effects (delay, etc). It all takes a lot of time and patience, and one of the reasons that I haven't done anything new lately, is that I now have other commitments, and don't often have time to sit for four hours on the PC in one go. Also, there's a bit of a dearth of new material to work with. I think a lot of the mixers on here were hoping for a new lot of 5.1 mixes to emerge, either on a DVD-A (rumours of QII and ADATR remain just that), or a DVD of GVHIII, which seems to be in a bloody long pipeline!

Anyway, glad you enjoyed my mixes. There's a few others scattered about on here, as well as great stuff from other people, of course. :)

Another interesting tool is:

http://www.moitah.net/#dsp_centercut

Basically it's a plugin for Winamp you can use in conjunction with Disk-Writer to dump simulated Center, Left Only, and Right Only channels to .wav or whatever.

It's free, so probably has some residue when compared to Audition's tools (they still have a center channel extractor?) but I like it alot, and it's just fun to listen to old Queen songs and hear new stuff.
