Ripping DVDs

A few people say they can rip off music from DVDs but how do you it?

Or a CD Recorder. Phillips makes a pretty good one for under $200. Makes good CDs of old cassettes and LPs also, if you have a good EQ and Spectral Enhancer.

is there such thing as a compressor for the type of file that go on ur ipod?
and how do i take numerous sections of a video and put them to form one?
