Too Much Love Will Kill You

Hi all
I was wondering if u all can help me something - Queen's version of Too Much Love Will Kill You was recorded in either 1990 or 1991 and Brian's version was recorded and released in 1992, but Queen's version wasn't released until 1995. So which is the cover version?
I would appreciate all of your help. :)

Yes, it was planned to be on The Miracle album. Answering your question: Brian, I think. But since this song was written by him, I don't know if it's possible to cover your own song...

Queen's version is the cover version.

Who wrote that song? I mean, I know their names, but who are the other two? How do they know Brian? It's just that I've never heard of them except that they co-wrote TMLWKY.

I don't agree.
I think Brian did the cover. He wrote the song with the intention to make a Queen song out of it. And it happened, but they didn't put it on The Miracle for copyright problems (the song is by May-Lamerz-Muskers, not only by Brian).
So he covered himself later on, in the 1992 with his own version. It may sound weird, but I think it's right.

Can it really be considered a cover if he wrote it? I can understand maybe if Roger had recorded it, then it could technically be considered a cover. Obviously, Brian considered the song good enough, and if Queen weren't going to use it (at the time), then he just re-recorded it for himself.

Brian co-wrote the song as a jam session, then semi-professionally recorded the track as a home demo before for taking it into the studio.
I know this because the 'Bell Boy Tape' tells me so - and this existed LONG before the Queen track ever did.

I suppose you are going to tell me next that while Lamar and Muskas were jamming/busking - that they too had this in the back of their mind - as a Queen track also?

Why is it that so many wish to re-write Queen history on a 'gut-feeling', rather than studying the evidence for themselves?

How do you come by all this great stuff?

If Brian recorded demo for himself - then yes, Queen covered unreleased Brian's demo, if Brian recorded demo for any other purposes - not for his solo album, then - Brian covered unreleased Queen's track. Otherwise "Keep Passing The Open Windows" is Queen's cover of Freddie's solo track.

If Queen's finished version of "Too Much..." existed before finished Brian's version, therefore in my opinion - Brian covered Queen's track, but since it's his own song and written, probably, not for Queen - "cover" is a wrong word to describe this case.

The 'Bell Boy Tape' was a cassette recording given away by Elizabeth Lamers to a bell-boy at the hotel she was staying at in the latter 1980's (c1986-1988)- Hence the simplicity of the title. (We do know for fact that the first Queen version was recorded c1988 - so Brian's home demo was written in LA sometime before that event).

The tape was put up for auction, so was bid for.

I have listed most of the tracks above.

Other tracks included Brian's 'Sleepy Blues', and his 'Moody keyboard' sounds, which some unfortunately have mistaken for 'Macbeth'.
