A further question to that would be: why was it called Volume 1?
maybe there will be a vol 2? but why though?
To introduce "newer" Queen fans to the rockier side of their output without having to buy a Greatest Hits compilation. I suppose just the fact that, of those 17 hard rock tracks (not counting 'No One But You'), 11 were featured on either a US or UK compilation makes it a very redundant release...
Terrific idea, poor execution.
As Lester mentioned, too many songs also available on the various Greatest Hits versions (even though they tried to remix a song or two to increase interest). It's much easier to come up with a true Queen Rocks CD with your own CD burner.

is that the only reason they released it? What about all this?

can i ask a question? What is greatest flix for?
it's so not only can you listen to queen, but you can see them too
When Queen Rocks was released people said it was to fullfill the 6 album contract with Hollywood Records, I don't know if it's true. If it's true the six albums would have been Innuendo, Classic Queen/GH, Live At Wembley 86, Made In Heaven, Live At The BBC and Queen Rocks.
"flix" is a made-up word for movies and videos, it comes from the flickering of a movie - if that was the question:)

I prefer the retake of 'I Can't Live With You'. And I like 'No One But You'.
Can't say I fully got behind the idea of *another* compilation album though... meh.
Though CD-writers were available at the time, I guess it wasn't quite as commonplace for people to write their own for the car. Loads of people 'could've' done it, they just didn't yet.
I know for a fact that as soon as I learn how to drive, I'm getting meself a Queen CD to listen to.
