If that's him, than... no surprise he didn't record backing vocals... ;)

Spike Edney?
strong chance it was spike edney, he always did backing vocals and wotever during songs, i think johns mic was never on but was there to look like he sang, wonder if anyone can channel it so that yoou can see if johns singin.... like gaga from the FMTC, where it clearly shows him singing/ miming into a mic
I think it is Spike. And it is not *that* bad, is it?
Flick of the wrist
I can't hear it because it says I've got to wait 76 minutes to download it!!!

I always wondered why they put a Mic in front a John, since some of the backing vocals were probably tracked.
This discussion again. Let's be honest: It sounds like John. I mean his voice is really the same as he speaks. His accent is very clear. And this proofs that he INDEED sang, not miming.
John: "It's the one thing I wish I could do - sing."
That's not proof. When you track, you play (or sing) along with the track, making sure the track is just as loud or louder. Then everybody knows you're not lip-synching, when in reality... you are.

Personally, I don't have any problems with Lip Synchers.

Everybody big does it now. Axl Rose did it at every concert.
