The only thing worse than Paul Rodgers would be some Freddie wannabe. Paul knows he isn't Freddie, so he doesn't try to be. It's the only thing I like about him.

Black Sabbath with Dio was BETTER than Ozzy's last two album with Sabbath. Ozzy whined too f*cking much and got on my nerves. Dio saved Sabbath from an early death, Ozzy ruined himself with drugs. Sabbath with Ian Gillan rocked too but after Gillan left, they went to Hell.

Brian May and Roger Taylor did exactly what they should have done. They hooked up with a singer with whom they felt the right chemistry. If not for that they would not have done anything.
It is not for anyone else to say what they should or should not do.
If they wanted to look for a Freddie clone that is their right. Their choice of Paul Rodgers was good for them and anyone who likes it. For those who don't like it, time will eventually close this chapter.
