You sound like a rational person. You shouldn't try to discuss with BPP and company. They've been bitching about this Queen+Paul Rodgers tour for over a year by now and it's always the same. They can bitch all they want and not go to any shows at all while we, tour supporters, go see two members of our favorite band on the road once again. The decision about the use of the Queen brand name is not yours or mine to make, but Brian and Roger's (and Jim Beach, probably) and they have Johns approval, so what's the big deal? It's not OUR BAND, you know?
There's no way they are "ruining Queen's legacy", as some say it, because the albums are still there. The book is already written. If this tour turns out to be not so successful, it shall fall into obscurity and fade from the people's minds. Only obsessed fans will regard it as "A DISGRACE TO THE QUEEN NAME", while other more normal people would remember it as "The time I could see two of my idols performing live". It's a dream come true for MANY PEOPLE. More importantly, the band is on the road. Brian and Roger are performing live together and enjoying themselves. They are not doing it for the money. They don't need it. Neither Paul Rodgers.
I think Paul was a good choice. They could do it with Robbie Williams but they wouldn't look too good because of the age difference and, besides, Robbie is not so big in the United States (I don't say America because he's bigger in Latinamerica than in the US). Paul Rodgers has a bigger following in the US, from his Bad Company days.
Well, they did it again. They got me into posting in one of these topics. No wonder why the other guys prefer to talk about CHEESE, haha :).

Paul is a US(North American) rock radio staple with not only Bad Company but also his supergroup The Firm(with Jimmy Page), Free, The Law(his group with Kenney Jones and they had a #1 US rock radio hit with Laying Down the Law in 1991) and solo (he released a highly praised tribute album to Muddy Waters which had help from Brian, Jeff Beck, David Gilmour and many others).

Bad Company, Free and The Firm were MINOR BANDS! Free were big in England and influenced many blues based rock bands. Bad Company which was born from the remains of Free were HUGE in North America and are staples of US rock radio(five of the original lineup's six albums are either Gold(500,000 copies sold) or Platinum(1,000,000 copies sold) or better). The Firm made only two albums but were great. The pairing of Paul and Jimmy Page was excellent.
