What is a Queen fan?

Here is an interesting thought I had the other day: What is a Queen fan? What makes someone a Queen fan?
Do you need to have all their albums?
Do you need to like a certain number of songs (say, 50 or 60)?
Do you need to know a specific amount of ultimately useless Queen Trivia?
Do they even need to be your favourite band?
Do you have to have seen them play live?
Do you have to spend at least 3 hours a day on this site?
Do you need to know the name of Queen's bass player or is that asking too much?
Opinions and feedback please.
This can't end well.
all I know is Im not a real one
Freedom of choice is what you've got Freedom from choice is what you want http://queen4ever.19.forumer.com/index.php
I guess it depends on your own definition of fan. I've heard people saying they're fans of Queen and they only know Bohemian Rhapsody and Another One Bites The Dust. It doesn't necessarily have to be obsession or spending all your free time on here and listening to the band, but just a level of respect and understanding for them, I think.
Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.
Someone who likes Queen?
Chom own mudder fukker.

I`ll try to answer a few of your questions:
1. Yes, I think you should have all of their albums
2. well, you can`t say you`re a fan and just like 10 songs...you have to like (more or less) allmost all of their songs
3. Yes, they have to be your favourite band....
4. well...I don`t know if you have to see them live...there are so many countryes they haven`t visited...anyway.....I don`t think that`s necessary
5. well....that`s interesting...3 hours on this site?...you have to be crazy to do that...
6. like someone before me allready said.....You definetly need to know the band members` names.
and finally my oppinion on the whole problem of being a fan....I think it`s ok just to say you like the band...not necessary be a huge fan...I can proudly say I like Queen, but I`m not ready to consider myself a Queen Fan....
A career lasts a lifetime...A legend lasts forever...
I'm obbessed, well its better being obbessed with Queen then drugs and alcohole....

Do you need to have all their albums? It's not nessecary to have all their albums to be considered a fan. Although I would suggest getting all of them because all of them are great in their own right (minus Flash Gordon that is)

Do you need to like a certain number of songs (say, 50 or 60)? If you want to be known as a casual fan then you only need to like a few songs. Casual fans though rarely know the real "greatest hits" of Queen like The March Of The Black Queen, It's Late, and others which are not on any Greatest Hits Compilation (except mine, which I burned myself). I would say you need to own at least one album (I suggest A Night At The Opera as that was my first Queen studio album)

Do you need to know a specific amount of ultimately useless Queen Trivia? Not really, just because you know facts doesn't really mean anything. Unless you want to educate other future Queen fans, then you might want to know some facts.

Do they even need to be your favourite band? Nope. However they are mine, and are the only band which I have the complete collection.

Do you have to have seen them play live? No but I would highly recommend it (check out Wembley or Milton Keynes)

Do you have to spend at least 3 hours a day on this site? Hopefully you don't have that kind of time

Do you need to know the name of Queen's bass player or is that asking too much? Well, you probably should remember oh what's his name.... oh yeah John Deacon. Love that Under Pressure riff.
How can I go on from day to day? Who can make me strong in every way?

lol, true true
;)
I think a fan is someone who just loves their music!!!
Thats what they do..make music and in Queen's case brilliant music!!
Also if u take the next 'step' in being a fan u like the band members a lot as well

:)
No you definitely don't have to have all their cds or even aim at owning them all.
You can be a true queen fan, and consider that their 1980-1989 period is not worth investing in their albums.

I think the term is very ambiguous. I can't say I'm a queen fan in all sense of the word (unless you can be a fan of 20+ bands and pop groups at the same time). Based on your list:

> Do you need to have all their albums?

I've only got ANATO, ADATR and Jazz. My father has NOTW in vinyl, and that's it, the rest has been downloaded or copied from mates.

> Do you need to like a certain number of songs (say, 50 or 60)?

Haven't counted but perhaps...

> Do you need to know a specific amount of ultimately useless Queen Trivia?

In that matter I think I'd score quite high in a "fanometre" :)

> Do they even need to be your favourite band?

If so, then I'm not fan of any band, since I haven't got any clear favourite. Perhaps (don't laugh) ABBA and Spice Girls would be the closest, especially the latter since that's the only act I listen to every bloody day.

> Do you have to have seen them play live?

If so, I'm only fan of Smash Mouth and Black Eyed Peas.

> Do you have to spend at least 3 hours a day on this site?

Myself, I don't think I'm a queen fan. But I do accept I'm a fan of this forum :)

> Do you need to know the name of Queen's bass player or is that asking too much?

There are many types of fans imo. Some even know when's the birthday of each one of Johnny's kids (and grandchildren, if he has any), or Freddie's lovers etc, others focus on the music. Others on collecting, etc.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.
That's Seb's way of saying he doesn't know the name of the bass player in Queen.
This can't end well.
Yeah whatever sebastian said. Great post

That's about the dumbest thing I've seen on here in a long time.

No offense.
