Can someone please recommend a brand name, model number, etc. of an MP3 recorder that would be good to take to the concerts?

Thanks.

also, easy to discreetly secrete about your person.

If you're struggling for that, either the H120 (smaller Hard Drive) or H320/40 (newer model) would be equally good.

Having said that, most tapers appear to still favour MD recorders.

I think MiniDisc is the best option because it is also the cheapest. I use a Kenwood MD with a manual input volume adjustment and it's very good. The way MD compresses the audio is not the same as mp3, so I would recommend an MD player/recorder and an external mic.
A good enough mic could be for example this:

I use ECM-717 which is an older model of this mic.
IT's easy to hide the recorder and the mic and with this mic's clip-on feature, you can place it on your shirt or jacket. Just remember to be quiet during the show..

Lisser, darling, please, NO MP3 recorder in the world is worthy for making realy decent recordings!

You need MiniDisc at least.

Wonderful!! Thank you to Jeroen and Riku!! I'm having trouble locating a Kenwood brand of MD player. Can either of you recommend a Sony MD player or another one you like? If so what model number? I am leaving for Florida Friday so I'll need to get it quick and learn how to use it.

I hope I can get a nice recording to share with you both for all your help.

:) Thank you again.

Er, what about a recorder that doesn't compress at all?

I don't know, how much does an MD recorder cost compared to the £230 I quoted for the iRiver H140?
