That photo was taken by a Japanese photographer and was put in a magazine named "Music Life" 5th in '76 featuring their second tour in Japan '76. Actually it's a colored one and is the first page of the text except the poster next to the cover. So, you would be sooooo surprized to see it when you flip the cover and the poster, like OMG!!! Every eye must have been rivetted to it...

Imo, it's not an optical illusion. But it might be emphasized a bit due to the shadow and the position at which the photographer pointed his camera.
