GREAT SHOW!!!
Don't think they could have done any better... well maybe a little on the new song "Take Love". It was my very first concert and let's just say it's quite ironic that my very first concert was of my very first love and appreciation for a band. Paul Rodgers is no Freddie Mercury but he impresed me quite a bit. When I got to the ACC I was freakin' nervous! I mean seeing real talented musicians LIVE! and not on DVD was AWSOME! When Taylor started playing "These are the days of our lives" and showed Freddie Mercury on the big screen everyone just screamed or shut up (it was a combination of both). And then it hit me, there was a peice of the puzzle missing, and I'm not talking about Deacon. And sure, Freddie Mercury was not there in a solid form but he is with us all the time, in our hearts. Like I said this was my very first concert and trust me I'm not as old as I sound! This concert was a great success and I'm sure that wherever the late great Freddie Mercury is right now, he would be very proud of not just his fellow band members but of all of us. All he wanted was his music to be heard and appreciated, and his wish was, is and always will be fulfilled!

Now I've had time to soak it all in a bit here are my thoughts.
First, I'll say it again, for a Toronto crowd it was rocking. I was on the floor in the 17th row and that was a great place to be. Close enough to the main stage to feel a part of the show and really close to the mini stage but not looking back.
The band was TIGHT! It was a real thrill to see Roger Taylor being Roger Taylor. After decades of watching him play drums on VHS and DVD I got goosebumps at times. The drum solo was IMO the best he's ever put together with audience participation and guitar in it.
I'm always amazed at how what looks on paper like a ho-hum setlist can turn out so well in person. Everything flowed nicely and it was a well put together show.
Under Pressure was a bit unorganized vocally, and by this I don't mean that lines were flubbed or out of key or anything, but you could tell it is a work in progress as they figure out who is best to sing what line. Personally I loved it! It is always these types of songs that make a concert memorable years down the road. Think about how we all remember shows where Freddie flubbed lines and fucked up and how special those are. The average "same old" shows all tend to blend together.
I was happy that Brian and Roger both look better in person than in pictures. Photos do add weight and wrinkles. Roger in particular looks great with his hair cut shorter than on the European tour.
PR was PR. He was exactly as I expected and I really appreciate that he made it possible for this tour to happen, and he's doing his best and probably is one of the better singers Queen could have gotten. Vocally he is very smooth and adds lots of flourishes, but there are several songs that I don't hink suit him well up there. Sorry, I can be a Queen fan and not a PR fan and still enjoy the show.
Take Love is the type of Rock song I don't really like. Kind've a 2 chord ballad that's been electified.
All Right Now absolutely ROCKED with Brian really cutting loose. Brian always looked like he was really enjoying himself the whole show, but especially on this song I think he pushed himself. I imagine it must be a relief to be able to play such a great song without worrying about comparing himself today to past years.
Dragon Attack was great too. This is a great song for PR and there was a great jam during this song as well.
Most of the other songs sounded more or less the same as on Return of the Champions. But there is something very special about being there in person.

OK, I *SO* have to make it for sure to the Vancouver show, based on what you guys are saying about Toronto!
(I missed the chance to go to the Toronto show, because my cousin did not return my call regarding being able to stay at his place for that concert)

I had a great, great time. I never got to see the original band :-( but this sufficed nicely. Couldn't stop the tears from welling up during Love Of My Life, These Are The Days and Bohemian Rhapsody. Lots of fun!
The first little bit i was wondering when roger was gonna take the damn sunglasses off, and then he did and he was behind that drumkit with that snarl i as much being said about PR voice not suiting some of the queen material maybe i'm the only 1 but i could NOT for the life of me get into the roger taylor version of these are the days of our lives...

I really don't mind Paul singing with Roger and Brian, but I wasn't impressed in the least last night. I tried to give the man a fair shake, but it just wasn't happening. He wasn't awful, but he's not my cup of tea either.
sorry for double posting earlier eh! silly me can't get into anyone else but elton john at the tribute concert all the way in nineteen hundred and ninety two singing The Show Must Go On anyone else doing it just doesn't do it for me....

Just got back from Toronto 24 hours later.
Row 17, seats 22 and 23, or alternatively, right in front of the catwalk. Our feet were actually on the staging, not the floor of the ACC.
stood the whole time, leaning on the barrier, close enough to touch the band, and my wife did shake Pauls hand at the very start of the show.
Show was awesome as mentioned elsewhere, I took some incredible photos but have to comment on the Under Pressure story earlier. yes Paul did forget the words to UP, but the reason you saw him struggling was because he couldnt find the words on his prompter and, no word of a lie, my wife coaxed him through it till he found them on his screen again. We were just to the left of the screen, the right as he looked at it, and many times during the show they looked for the words, but on this occasion the screen wasnt helping him, my wife did. I know it sounds unreal, but its true.
He managed to find his place when the next verse started, and then he stopped looking at her and started looking at the screen again.
Overall UP was a bit of a mess, but a wonderful, mesmerising mess and I wouldnt have missed it for the world.

just wondering what LOML sounded like elsewhere in the arena tho. i had floor seats and from where i was sitting it seemed like quite a lot of ppl were singing along...it was amazing.
and also...queen and PR do a show here and there's NO news of it on muchmusic or muchmore????? wtf!

I've had my recovery time.
I enjoyed the Toronto show so much.
There were a couple of mistakes but that's part of the charm of live music.
I had a grumpy woman sitting next to me but my friend and his 14 year old daughter really enjoyed themselves so grumpy was hardly noticed.
I thought of going to Buffalo but thought it would be hard to get decent seats. Maybe Detroit.
I enjoyed the Toronto show so much.

Ditto. An incredible night. Words can't express how excited I was when I heard the first notes of Dragon Attack. I'm so glad I stayed away from the forums, so it was completely new to me. Brian played it amazingly. Now, imagine if I had stayed away from the forums and experienced the New Jersey show with no clue of the setlist. But that would have been practically impossible. It was far too exciting in April to avoid. I downloaded mp3s, videos, and pics of practically every show that month. Ah yes, I digress, as is my custom.
Paul is a fantastic entertainer. I really have grown to appreciate him. But it seems that Brian was a bit more energetic on the guitar in Buffalo, especially during his big solo.
It was awesome to finally meet all you guys before the show, after talking online for years: Tony, Ryan, and Thorsten. Few things can compare to talking Queen with other hardcore fans.

I wondered if it would have been cool to have one of Freddie's audience sing-alongs on the screen like they did at the Tribute Concert. Maybe it would be awkward for Paul right after that though, unless Brian does a song himself first....
