***WARNING...THIS THREAD IS NOT INTENDED TO OFFEND ANYONE, I JUST WANT SOME QUESTION ANSWERED ABOUT THE UK IN GENERAL, PLEASE DONT THROW TOMATOES AT ME, LOL!!!***

Okay, on with the subject:

I was talking to this chick that work with me at this hotel here in Milwaukee...and we were talking about the places we've been to, and she was telling me about the time she went to the UK, when she was a senior in High School(last year of grammer school here in the states) when she was 18...she said that the experience on a stale of 1-10 was about a 6...she said that the trip was okay, but it could have been better...she said that it was a real culture shock going over to Europe in the first place, but she said that a lot of the people there really kinda had their noses up in the air...(which was really surprising to me)and I'm not for sure about which city she was in when she went, but she said that the experience was okay, not bad, but that it could have been better...she got into an arugment w/a Bobby over there also, but it was a funny experience, w/the bobby and all.

I also have a few guest at my hotel that said the same thing, they said that in general the trip was okay...but they expected it to be a lot better...I have one guest that said that Scotland was actually a little better than England, in regards to niceness in all...I've had a few guest thats been to Ireland, and they really had a good experience...

I'm asking this question, because I plan on going over there in the future, and I just wanted to ask that general question. I just want to know what to expect when I go over there, etc. I know that here in Milwaukee, WI USA, people can be standoffish, and (its a bit prejudice, its an invisible prejudice), but once you get to know them, their fine...at least thats how it is with me, I'm terribly shy in person (especially speaking in groups, I'm better one on one), but once you get to know me, I'm fine! I might sound intersting over the internet, but I'm boring as hell in person, at least thats what I've been told, lol.

I've heard that British people are very friendly and polite, but I've also heard that they are rude and obnoxious. I guess there's just a lot of mixed notions about the British... :-S
And don't let people tell you that you're boring in person, I bet you're loads of fun to be around! :-D

Well when we were in Liverpool we overheard the waitress in a restaurant complaining about us. "For fuck's sake, not more bloody Irish scumbags! Why can't they just stay in their own fucking country?" Doesn't mean they're all like that though. We met some lovely British people on holiday in the States a few years ago.
I don't think you can generalize a country just by a few people. I know a few people who could talk for England but that doesn't mean we're all like that. You can get gobby people everywhere not just England.
UK... like any other country has good and bad people.
Some people aren't very nice and others are friendly and easy to get along with.
I'm English and i'm nice so we do exist :D
"It’s not often we play in daylight, and I fucking well wish we did before, I can see you all now. And there are some beauties here tonight, I can tell you!" ;)
Americans are ruder...you know who you are.
