Milwaukee Show

Just got home from the show. Was very very good.
Bri was excellent. I was very very disappointed
in the attendence. Appeared to be only half full?
Certainly missed Freddie, but over all was good.

Anyone else there?

Did you give Paul the thumbs down? Some of us here were betting that you would. I only hope you had a nosebleed seat.

Yeah, I got home an hour ago. I'll review it here-

Paul definatley had the right vocal range for Queen's music. He only made one mistake throughout the concert during Dragon Attack, after 'take me to the room where the red's all red' he started to say 'take me to the room' but stopped because the green light hadnt come on yet. You could blame that on the crew however.

If you didnt know who Paul was at the beginning, you did when Feel Like Making Love started. You cant imitate that. And, during Bad Company, when he came from the floor on the piano- that was great.

Then when he did WWRY and then All Right Now, the place went BANANA! They put 2 of the best performances back to back and blew us away.

Then WATC with an added verse about Milwaukee, it was God Save The Queen and goodnight.

Okay, now the bad stuff-

WHAT THE HELL WAS WITH THAT STUPID FUCKING ERMINEM SONG?

They also should have played the actual video for BohRap instead of all those clips of Freddie. On Hammer To Fall, the slower part dragged out a bit and they should probably have broken tempo after the first verse. Last, I think the "All right then, All Right Now!" joke would have been pretty funny to everyone.

But it was definatly worth seeing and Im never going to forget seeing this and Queen+Paul Rodgers is my new 2nd favorite band.

It was pretty good even though most the audience didn't know the hand clap to Radio GaGa! Did anyone else see James Young from Styx in the audience? He was on the far right hand side of the arena about 10 rows up even with the farthest point of the stage runway. He entered the arena from backstage and I saw one guy recognize him and shake his hand but I wasn't sure it was him so I didn't say anything as he walked right past me. I really wanted to shake his hand and say "Domo Arigato" :)

No, I did not give Paul a thumbs down.
And I was up front - not in the nose bleeds.

And there you have it.

Sharon G. objected to the use of the name Queen.
She hasn't objected to Brian, Roger and Paul playing together. She has even gone so far as to say they might be a good concert.
I hope she had a good time.

Didnt Eminem sample a Queen song? I think thats why they used it?

Me and my wife saw themn yesterderday at the Bradley center. They sounded great. My personal highlights, were Brian May's acoustic performance of Love of MY Life and Paul's emotive vocals on Show Must Go On. The whole band sounded great and Paul did a very good job of singing Freddie's songs. While he dosen't have Frieddie's vocal range he is a great singer in his own right and showed that he belonged there.

The instrumentals by Brian ( I especially loved the beautiful Lost Horizon) and Roger's drum solo sounded great. The emotional moments in the concert were the montage of Queen during Days of Our Lives and seeing the video of Freddie singing Bohemian Rhapsody. Great show.

I agree. That was probably the best encore of all time. We saw them at Chicago and the place went nuts for the encore. It was perfect.

Having been fortunate enough to see Q+PR in New York last fall, the Milwaukee show was a bit disappointing. Not in the band's performance, but in my home state's audience turnout, participation and energy.

It's logical, though, given that Queen fans from all over the US/World went to NY for that show.

I missed the mass Radio Gaga clap, as well.

It was also disappointing that they pulled '39 from the set list. Dragon Attack was cool to see live, though. It was obvious they were working out Under Pressure on the fly...but Brian said so up front. I'm glad they did it.

I don't agree that Rodgers has the range to sing most Queen songs, but I don't begrudge him that. He's a fine performer, and I'm more than happy with him on this tour...he just can't do The Show Must Go On and Under Pressure any justice. Not many can. Dragon Attack was a good add for him.

Seeing the Freddie clips during Bo Rhap again made me yearn even more for his presence on stage. I thought they did that song exactly right this time around. Seeing Freddie "playing" with Brian and Roger is pretty cool.

What made this good was that Paul wasnt trying to imitate Freddie. He sang the songs in his own way and I dont care who wants to lynch me for this but I liked Paul's version of Dragon Attack better. One thing I dont think he should have done was tried to do Freddie's thing during ANBTD; you know that 'de de de de dedede dedebopay...' He kind of messed that up but otherwise, he was great.

And if you didnt know who Paul was from the start, you knew by Cant Get Enough Of Your Love- theres no way you can imitate that good!

This show was the best over all QPR show performance wise of the 17 shows I have seen despite a few little mishaps by the sound guys and light crew.

1) BEST Brian solo I have heard him do--not the same old thing all the time. Brian was on top of game--bringing emotion back into that guitar instead of playing it like a robot as he did in the UK---he was feeling it for every song tonite...fantastic!! Feel like making love was extra special tonight.

2) ROGER fricken TAYLOR!!- The best drum performace since 1980-- for the ENTIRE SHOW. Full throttle, hitting hard, heavy, full body...Jamie and Danny seemed to be a little surprised by the extra effort. Hoorah for Roger!

3) PAUL RODGERS!!--Despite the mishap on Dragon Attack...fantastic!!! It's a live show and that can happen...roger screwed up "days" in St. Paul the night before. BC/Free songs went over well.

They were really pushing to stratosphere at this show.

Attendence: I have not seen the Bradley Center sold out for any rock show- Aerosmith, Van Halen, etc. QPR had more in attendence..the BC is Huge. I thought the loudness of the crowd was great...I was in the 5th row--being absorbed by the moment--but the hubby and kids reported from their vantage point everyone was really getting into the show.

Another thing, when he got too close to Roger, he would start to get drowned out.

I agree Dragon Attack with Paul is better than FM. That song is amazing live with QPR.

I also thought Under Pressure was done well in MKE compared to others.

I LOVE QPR...what a fun show...dance your life away.
