Pyrotechnics

Hi all, first post to the site. I'm headed to the show in Glendale tomorrow night with my younger brother, who had a severe ear infection as a child that actually ruptured his eardrum. Long story short, he is extremely sensitive to loud, percussive blasts (i.e., explosions, gunshots, etc.). How intense are the pyrotechnics at the show, what songs feature them, and should I head to Walgreen's later tonight and get him some earplugs?

but if he is so sensitive to loud noise
well, you will definitely want to get him some ear plugs...its a concert after all and its loud, very loud, but in a good way

Really? That's surprising, and almost a letdown. I was kind of looking forward to the stage blowing up right when they kicked into the hard-rock portion of BoRap.

but this show is for the music and the songs
after not seeing them for 20+ years, its very sentimental, and touching, and fun, and you sing and you jump around, and clap, and scream, and well, you'll see...and you never want it to end..
i dont think i could imagine them doing pyro, fire, etc
believe me, you will have a blast

Oh, I know I will, and I feel better about bringing my little bro along. I didn't even think about pyro until I watched Wembley again last night and remembered that they set off charges a couple of times there, but I will get him some earplugs just in case.

He's been to loud concerts since then (most recently Green Day), and the noise doesn't bother him at all. It's just percussive bangs and the such that actually cause him pain. Still, I'll call the doctor tomorrow and ask his opinion. Thanks for the advice, everyone.

No Pyros this time around but Mr Taylor will make up for that during his drum solo, get the ear plugs!

The bass drum and the overall drum sound is always loud with Roger. I'd also suggest ear plugs, at least you could bring them with you and he can use them if needed...

Bring ear plugs the show is loud, hard, rockin'. Tender ears need protection...to late for me. My ears are still ringing here and there from Monday

I have to agree, Roger and his kit are always a threat to human ears :-) seriously he's quite loud, especially the snare and the roto-toms, I think the bass is not that sharp, it's rather pumping in your chest then your ears. And also Brian's solo seems to be loud sometimes (like the "chinese torture" part)
I suggest to bring those earplugs!!!
