Hangman...

There's an article on QOnline with the following quote from Roger:

``Freddie was a big fan of his voice right from the beginning,'' says Taylor of Rodgers, from a tour stop in Milwaukee. The original Queen even had a song called ``Hangman'' written in the style of Rodgers' first rock band, Free. It has been performed live, but ``I don't know if we ever recorded it,'' Taylor says.

Sounds like Free? I don't think so.......! I think it's in fairly bad taste how Roger & Brian keep trying to justify this Q&PR tour by saying Freddie was a big fan of his. I've never read anything to back this up?

Especially the drums going on the whole song.. And the rhythm guitar put on top of it.. Listen to stuff like All Right Now and I Can't Get Enough Of Your Love.. It's very much like Hangman.

I always found Hangman more like something Zeppelin of Sabbath.
(btw: did anyone else notice that 'Nightmare' on Black Sabbath's 'Eternal Idol'-album has the exact same riff in the exact same tempo as Hangman?! :-P

I remember Hangman, it does sound like Free in a way.

They performed it live in earlier concerts, like in 1973. I want to say 1974 as well, but I doubt it. I don't believe there is a studio recording; it was just performed live.

It's far closer to Zep than frigging Free, who were musically little more than a pub rock band.

Somebody on this board claims to own it. Can't recall who though, but perhaps that individual will speak up.

A claim doesn't mean they're telling the truth.

I could 'claim' that I own one of Freddie's Grand-Pianos - and until someone asks for a photo of said piano, I could lead everyone into thinking this was the truth...(I don't own one of Freddie's piano's...it's just an example).

So - again - if you do own Hangman, and want to be completely honest about owning 'these recordings'...give us some proof. :) Otherwise, my conclusion will be that it DOES NOT exist. Trident Acetate or whatever.......

And I believe the person claiming to own it is John S. Stuart, so take your disbelief out on him. I suspect he doesn't think he needs to prove anything to you or anybody else posting around here, so I doubt he will accomodate you.
