Bob,
you must have misunderstood me for long time. I always preferred the best to the 2nd best.
The difference between us is, I would never write "Don´t convert to mp3" under my flac uploads.
Its useless, do you really think, anybody with a 20 GB harddrive follows your advice?
The way, mp3s are hunted by some people, is just rediculous.
Your standards are not everybodys standards, you should respect that, as long as YOU get a lossles copy, its okay, isn´t it?
And imagine the situation:
You are offered a ultra rare, never heard of it before, early Queen recording, maybe you were even looking for it since years, would you recejt a mp3?
If your answer is yes, this would be a lie.
I respect your efforts in this community, but you are still a Don Quichote.

Why must I always have to repeat myself?

Of course, if there is no alternative, then mp3 is always okay. But if the lossless copy is known to exist, then that's the one that should be circulating.

I second it. Bob is right, mp3 can be good but not if a lossless copy exists. That's the case with one of the last shares by John, the Brian May & Cozy Powell Sessions, which he offered mp3 only (for his own reasons, he was asked to do so by the previous trader, and he is a man on whom you can rely, so if we have to be angry it would be against this previous trader !). I downloaded this to listen to this, but he told us that a lossless copy exists, so I won't use it for trade.
I don't know why this move is not adopted by everyone, I mean everybody should respect the artists/tapers/uploaders and try to preserve quality instead of slowly ruining all efforts.

And when you say that Bob should not complain if HE gets a lossless copy, I think his thoughts are not only turned towards his own collection (that's what I understand reading your post) but towards the quality of the files, the preservation of music, and therefore to a larger number of people here than his own little person, keeping by this move good quality for a long time and for future fans and so on... Well, I think and hope so people can think this way !
That makes him more ego-oriented that he seems to be with his shares and so on... In my own opinion ! I am not defending him but try to understand the ideas he defended, and found that someone trying to defend quality can not be a bad thing on a Queen forum...
So, spend nice celebration days Bob, Frank, and everyone here !!!

Regards,

Olivier,
France.
wanna trade ?
In the end it are just music files from a band.
