To overestimate the merits of; rate too highly.
I never said my opinion was the gospel, nor did I invite a discussion on my view on Robbie Williams. I do not believe I am arrogant; whether I know a lot about musical ability is a matter of opinion - I'm of the view that "Quality Is Determined By Opinion"....and thus just because I do not like an artist doesn't mean I am of superior intellect, I just simply do not rate their abilities. Taking Robbie Williams' career into context - it is difficult to get away from his music on radio and music television, and based on what I have heard I believe he has made the most of his limited ability and taken it a long way.....he's achieved a lot, certainly and has sung varying types of records (Angels, Strong, Let Me Entertain You etc) but I don't believe as an vocalist he is in the same league as say, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Kurt Cobain or Dave Grohl. As a performer and entertainer on the live stage he has done well for himself and sold out hundreds of shows I imagine. But I just don't rate him.[/QUOTE]
