Who was the first Doctor? Was it William Hartnell?

Sorry, I'm not a Who-nerd.

1) William Hartnell
2) Patrick Troughton
3) Jon Pertwee
4) Tom Baker
5) Peter Davidson
6) Colin Baker
7) Slyvestor McCoy
8) Paul McGann
9) Christopher Eccleston
10) David Tennant

Thought I'd do it before someone else did
WOW...He really sucks at singing...well, more like talking! ;)
Holy crap... this has made my day!
You don't have to be bigger. Just louder.
My favorite was Jon Pertwee.
Going off track here, but how is David Tennant as the new Dr. Who? We are currently halfway through the series with Christopher Eccleston, and I am rather fond of him.
Well the fanboys who *loved* Ecclestone all pretended they "never liked Eccleston anyway" when Tennant came along, so I guess Tennant is pretty popular (either that or the fanboys just praise whoever the current actor is).
IMO Tennant is a bit too much of a generic traditional Doctor (what with him being a massive fan in real life) whereas as Eccleston (who knew nothing about the show) brought a really fresh, never seen before or since, aproach.
Tennant's a good actor and pretty charismatic though, which is the main thing.
Yes Eccleston was really good a bit shit he didnt do another series his reason for not doing it was it takes 9 months per season for 13 episodes. Tennant is good but that spark just isnt quite there for me we're two episodes in here in uk so lets wait & see
LOOK OUT PAUL RODGERS!

Brian has now made the same correction himself on his soapbox, thus making it acceptable behaviour.
Ha! Zinged!
Speaking as a substantial Doctor Who fan, I would say Eccleston was the best. Tennant is very good, but he'll never be as good as Eccleston for me. I am a bit pissed off Tennant doesn't use his lovely Paisley accent.
Anyway, does anyone else think that Dr Brian May MBE would make a good Doctor Who? I have thought this for a while, I think he suits the role.
This can't end well.
