QUEEN WERE GREAT IN THE '70'S

queen were great in the '70's and in innuendo.i think that in the '80's, like many bands,queen were going through a hard time,especially hot space.for me,it is the worst queen album.if you hear queen properly in the '70's,you can't really appreciate albums like hot space and also the works.a kind of magic and the miracle are fairly good.innuendo is one of the greatest albums and about made in heaven,i sincerely don't know.

the 80s were the only musical decade that (generally) sucked and blowed.
many established rock bands started using synths too much...the sounds became very watered down
and very "insincere" sounding

That's why I think you can't take too much away from Queen. They may have went through a rough spot that other great bands didn't (Queen made some really bad material, unlike many other rock legends), but they'd already become legendary just by the sheer excellence of their first 7 albums, all of which are classics. And when they released Innuendo, that was just icing on the cake.

The 70s were also marked by some awful shit like Cher, Captain and Tenille, The Patridge Family, and of course disco.

I agree. Queen went just a wee bit downhill in the 80's cause the 70's were ROCKIN ! ! ! !

in the 80s, they were more into the pop category, in the 70s they were in the glam rock category........i like both cuz queen is awesome

I think it was VH1 that did a thing on the best artists of the 70's and Queen were#5 behind Zep ,Abba, Stones and Elton John.

I completely agree with this statement. The albums they made in the 1980s, starting with the Game and ending with the Miracle, were really not that good at all. Yes, there were a few nice songs, but even then there wasn't much creativity involved. It was mostly cliche. I can listen all the 70s albums from the beginning to the end, but I can't do the same with the 80s albums - there's too much synthetic sound and not much creativity involved.

With Innuendo they went back to good songwriting and some experimentation. Who knows what would have happened next... but Freddie's death stopped this creative comeback.

Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera, and A Day at the Opera are simply some of the most amazing albums ever made (the most amazing, in my biased opinion).

I agree queen were brilliant in the seventies (in their prime) but, why do you have to love 70's queen but hate the eighties, or vise versa. I'm on record of saying 70's queen is brilliant, and I also like 80's queen, Wow!...is that possible?...yes it is.

I still stand by the fact that 'Hot Space' IS a good album.

Agreed. They are all good albums. For me the first 6 were exceptional. When you think about it that's quite a run !

I don't think Queen have done a single track which I can't get some enjoyment from.

I liked them best in the 70s yeah. But still they were great in the 80s and 90s. I just loved the 70s era. They're outfits were amazing.

Queen were and always will be great!

The 70s albums (at least up to ADATR) were definitely stronger, but the ones from 80s can be enjoyed too.

Personally I think 'A Kind Of Magic' is brilliant, although most people might disagree with me. I think the album is definitely underated.
