Sure, sometimes I drive 60-65, but regardless of whether someone is driving on the right, middle, or left lane, nobody has the right to push someone's buttons for following the law by the book.
What about the traffic signs that say "slower traffic keep right"

Speed limit signs are there for a reason? Speed limits used to be at least 65, but were reduced during the 70's fuel crisis. Only Michigan and some western states have more reasonable speed limits.
As Amanda says, traffic laws and speed limits are there for a reason. My objection is not with merely speeding up, but with driving aggressively against those who follow the law.

If someone doesn't like it, then move wherever faster speed limits are allowed. End of story.

As long as you continue to ignore common courtosy by sitting in the left lane and refuse to move over to let others pass ... you will continue to be a target. End of story.

Too bad, then.

The only ones that should be given the right to pass by moving your car to the right lane are emergency vehicles.

The speed limit on the interstate where I live is 70. I usually go about 75, especially when the rest of the traffic is flowing at that rate. When you cross the river into Ohio from Kentucky, the speed limit is 60 or 65. I still go 70-75 on these roads. My driving instructor told me something that I have never forgotten and that was that there was nothing scarier than brake lights and slow drivers on the interstate and that slower drivers have caused many accidents. That is why there is a minimum speed limit also.

If slower drivers keep to the right like the law states, then there is no problem. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I drive aggressively. That's a pretty strong word to describe my driving. If you were to see me driving down the interstate, you wouldn't be able to pick me out and say, "that is an aggressive driver!!" I go with the flow of traffic and if someone is blocking the passing lane that I need to use then they are aware that I'd like them to move. That is the way I drive and it's been the way I've driven for 15 years.

Also, if the speed limit was 55, 60, 65, whatever and you were going the speed limit, or 5 over, I would not tailgate you. However if you were going under the speed limit and riding the fast lane, chances are you'd see me in your rear view mirror until you moved. No one has the right to hold up the flow of traffic. Miss James, I don't use the excuse of having a lead foot for driving over the speed limit. It's the way I drive on the interstate, it's not an excuse. I don't make excuses.

If I lived near you I might say that was probably me on your ass!! :) I drive an SUV and I tend to have a lead foot. I usually drive about 10 over on the interstate or I make sure I'm going with the flow of the rest of traffic. I NEVER ride the fast lane either. My GOD, the fast lane is for passing only, not for turds that drive 65 mph. That pisses me off more than anything, people that ride the fast lane, get out of the way or GOOOOOOO!! I am guilty of riding people's asses too. I want them to move and I won't get off their ass until they do move. Tony gets so pissed at me. Yep, I've got road rage against people that don't follow common courtesy on the roads. I am definitely guilty. As far as the cell phone thing. I have used my cell many times while driving, but I don't gab. I just use it if I absolutely have to. I'm a great mulit-tasker though. I can change a diaper, eat a whopper, and pick my nose all at once, while driving. ;)

When Cameron was about 18 months old, she was in the back in her car seat. Someone had pulled out in front of me and I had begun to realize that she was getting to the age where she repeats all of what I say. So when this person pulled out in front of me, I said, "What the!!" and didn't say what I normally would have said in this situation. Then an innocent little voice from the backseat said, "hell mommy, what the hell." I couldn't help but to laugh but it was then that I knew I had to watch my mouth.

Bad mommy.
I'd probably slam on my brakes if you did that to me, especially since driving the speed limit is good, and if you go in the right lane driving too fast, and honk to get them to move, that's just rediculous. Go in the left lane and pass them like you are supposed to do.
Jake, seeing as you are not old enough to drive that is probably why your post made no sense. I said that if you ride the left lane which IS the passing lane then I would ride your ass. I wouldn't ride anyone's ass that was to the right. Slower traffic is supposed to be to the right. If you slam on your brakes then I would slam mine on and then when you took your foot off the brake, I would still be on your ass. Why would slamming on your brakes stop me? I'm trying to send you a message to get out of my way. If you didn't, then I would stay on your ass. Drive the speed limit, go with the flow of traffic, or move over. When I say I ride people's asses, it doesn't mean that I am right on their bumper. I am at a comfortable distance for me to hit my brake if someone decided to do something stupid like slam on their brakes instead of doing the right thing, getting over to let me pass. That is why we have 3-4 lanes on the interstate. The left lane is for passing and the other lanes are for slower traffic. When a person who drives slower decides to ride the fast lane, it messes up the flow. I don't drive like Mario Andretti by any means, but I also don't drive like Grandma Smith either.

How about the Autobon in Germany where there is no speed limit. They have less accidents than we do in America. What does that tell you? It has very little to do with speed and everything to do with morons who shouldn't be on the road. I could drive better at 100mph than most could at 60mph.
You don't know my age too well. I don't mind speeding a bit faster, but I'm very nice to those who don't like it, and I'd never tailgate someone, as that's how accidents happen. What if they stopped suddenly? That's the end of that.

And sorry about the confusion, I thought you said in any lane you'd tail gate them. My mistake.

I usually go around a little over the speed limit on the interstate, but I'm no way a speed demon. I find really heavy traffic intimidating. When we were driving through Chicago to get to the QPR show a couple of months ago, it scared the crap outta me..:-)
Tee-hee. Americans and your driving on the right :)

Uh, no. No, I do not because I am a smart driver. Honestly - I am a good driver. I will trumpet myself because I was trained by my dad who did 15 years of police pursuits. I'm fairly well versed on the roads and it is other people who end up fucking up on the road - not seeing ME when I have right of way, pulling out in front of me.

I see it often enough though with my dad. Guy pulls up and says 'Watch where you're going, baldy'. Old man reaches down for his police I.D and says to the bloke in the car next to us 'Listen, fuck wit' *showing I.D* 'Pull your bucket of shit over and turn the fucking thing off'. Yeah, that bloke got a yellow 'non-roadworthy' sticker on his car. Funniest thing ever. Next time he won't shout at random bald guys.

So in answer - no. :)

When I took my driving test, I had to go through a construction area and I went 14mph so I wouldnt fail so I had people behind me trying to go 35 and they were honking and flipping me off.

But, yes, I did pass with only 8 points off.

I forgot to mention that actually the speed limit, around here it's usually 65, in those types of roads, is the speed limit for both lanes, but if there's a SLOW vehicle, that is going UNDER the speed limit, they go in the right lane, and the person driving the speed limit passes them in the left lane. This goes for such things as buses, big trucks, tractors, or anything else that moves slow.

The first 6 were right away; the road off the parking lot is an unmarked 2 land and it doesnt look nearly wide enough.
