Mustapha

Hello dears!
I recently added Jazz to my Queen collection. In my opinion,it is a fab album! I am quite intrigued by 'Mustapha'. Does anyone have an idea as to the meaning of this song? I am quite curious really!

Notta clue, but I was under the impression that the lyrics made little real sense once translated, and that - like a few of his other more memorable songs, this is merely a gibberish pastiche that's done with a bit of humour?

We need test for people who want to join to QZ. Like it does when you write your e-mail and then verify your address by clicking the link in the letter, bla-bla-bla. Just few questions for research - if you wanna be QZer: 1) Who wrote Innuendo? 2) What is Mustapha about? 3) Why there are two Seven Seas Of Rhye?! What a funny mistype! Hahaha 4) Where's John Deacon? etc.

I won't be surprised if we will have questions in future like "who is "the Memphis God and the Liverpool boys" from Roger's No More Fun?"

You're forgetting "what year was Man in the Shadows recorded?".

There was a time when I put this song on "repeat" for... a long time, and my brother told me: "I'm going to report you to the NSA if you play that song one more time!"

So, naturally, I put it on repeat for the next few days until his brain turned to mush. Now, he is able to watch Live at Wembley and shout "I love Freddie!" all by himself, without any suggestion. I should be cannonised for that.

In regarding Serry's suggestion to the new QZ members, I remembered a story that happened to me years ago.

In the year of 96, I was assembled at the gym with some friends. There was one in particular (which I only knew from the gym), a nice guy in a dumb kind of way.

As the radio was on, Queen suddenly passed on the radio. I don't remember the song, but I saw this guy singing along... well, at least the melody.

I asked him if he liked Queen. He said yes. A few minutes later I asked the retorical question: wasn't it such a shame that Freddie Mercury had died?

He stoped his bodybuilding training, looked at me in awe and in shock and bursted: "FREDDIE MERCURY DIED??????"

It's a true story! :)))))))))

I nearly started reading that to the tune of '39...

well Freddie wrote this song after the name of the boy who was his first sexual encounter, back when he was in boarding school. Mustapha got Freddie to become homo sexual and he used Freddie as a sexual slave for a few weeks before he was caught tying freddie down on the bed (which is why freddie laughed when brian may wrote tie your mother down, it reminded him of that incident!)

Oh my god...is this truth?? The boy's name was Mustapha??
