My friends are playing old metalsongs in very soft versions. I think they're good. My favorite is Iron Maiden's "Run to the hills".

What do you think?
Hnmmmm....mixed feelings. Of course the originals are way better, but it's at least interesting to hear once or twice. It gets pretty fast boring though.
I guess it's one thing if you have been a fan of the originals? I've heard the originals many times, but never really listened to them. You know what I mean?
You have a favorite out of two songs? ;P

Anyway, since they covered two songs whose originals are two of my favorites, I did not like these as much as I could have. But I'm sure if they covered other songs that aren't amazing already, I'm sure they could work out something good. Otherwise, it's just...a perversion.
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.
Isn't there always a favorite? :-)

I can see where someone who loves the originals would get annoyed. That's why I was curious. But to me the "Run to the hills" is so far from the original that it doesn't even have to be compared.
You're right, but with covers, it's often hard to keep the original out of one's thoughts, especially if the original is exceptional.

Since I am a fan of metal, and not of this other genre, I suppose I have no choice but to prefer the originals. But I can still appreciate what they've done.

True.
I guess the day they cover "Stone cold crazy" I'll truly know if I like it or not... :-)

I can only agree with this :)
