The Foo Fighters version of Tie Your Mother Down was the best tribute performance of Queen I've ever heard. Absolutely phenomenal.....they rocked that song like they owned it. And I'm not even a big Foo Fighters fan.

If he didnt sing it with that scream-o voice, and they did the more of the nice harmonies that Queen did when they sung the line "Tie your mother down!", then it might have stood a chance. Are you aware that what you say isn't actually right? I can accept that people don't like the Foo Fighters or other bands, but what you have said doesn't really offer anything constructive, and are nothing but childish insults.
The Foo's offer something different. A mixture of hard rock, soft rock, slow rock, and some beuatiful acoustic stuff too. They know how to put on a good show, and are great personalities and seem like decent people who have all the time in the world for thier fans. As far as I'm concerned, Dave Grohl gets better and better with each album, his vocals, his lyricism, his arrangements, and lets not forget the rest of the band: Taylor Hawkins is one of my favourite drummers and is one of the best around at the moment, and Nate Mendell and Chris Shiflett are very underated musicians. In my opinion, the world needs more bands like the Foo's - a few guys who make good music they enjoy, and who are just happy to be doing what they are doing and thoroughly appreciate the position they are in.
As a side note, it's great to see one of the biggest acts in music at the moment (like them or not, it's arguably true) are so open about their lov for Queen. Dave, and more so Taylor, especially. If anything, it's good for Queen, because it keeps them valid outside of re-re-re-releasing Greatest Hits One.

I like the Foos alot, and I agree, the world needs more musicians like them who actually play MUSIC... not this factory crap...
And they played with so much passion, and the fact that Queen loved playing with them has to say alot!
