I'm sorry this isn't too pertinent to the subject at hand but...

GAH. EMO. I just had a really " moment" and was very upset and crying and all that jazz.

BUT, I had made a resolution to myself that next time I was depressed, I was going to go and do something fantastic. Since I couldn't find a dollar for ice cream, I am now at the library. Being depressed is a waste of time. Hell, I wasted a lot of time doing it, and now I'm committed to keep my resolution.

On an ever-so-slightly more relevant note, I am not part of any "group" at school, and have aquaintinces in pretty much all of them, as far as I can tell. Just be yourself and you're free. If people don't like you for that, and you're happy, why give a ?

Well everyone gets depressed now and then. Its apart of human nature. Especially teenagers. It doesnt mean you are emo, it means you are depressed. There is a difference. I would like to clarify, j/ because you are depressed does NOT equate to EMO... but it does mean you are an emotional person, and thats a good thing.

But thats a good way to get on with life, pity parties are ok for a time to endulge yourself, but u do need to get to apoint where u need to change something if you can.

And well said Kelley about the being free thing, you may not make everyone love you, but youll be happy with yourself, and youre bound to find someone who will want to be around you no doubt!
I really have to reply to this "emo and what it is" talk because it is something that annoys me a lot.

Emo stands for "emotional hardcore". Emo is a style of music, NOT a label for someone. Unfortunately, that is what emo has turned into. A label. Emo was cool when it was a style of music and not an insult.

As for the stereotypical emo insult, DreaminQueen has it pretty much right. Black, greasy hair with long fringes that cover their faces, REALLY tight jeans, and cuts on their wrists. But anyone who can call another person emo and mean it is pathetic and should get a life. *nod*

That is my view and if you could be bothered reading it or caring, thank you =]
Cheer up, emo kids... :S

WELL SAID!
Yes. Im not a fan of Emo music in general. But that doesnt matter. Now Emo has a negative connotation to it, and it shouldnt necessarily. But some people feed on the EMO stereotype...

Now the idea of the EMO STEREOTYPE angers me because some people think of it and think oh, so depression is cool then?? So is hurting yourself... And its not. Depression is areal thing, a real problem. Not a BLOODY trend... Nothing wrong with emotional at all... But i dont know... ok i dont really know where im going with this now...

I must ask, no ones ever answered me about this... but whats a chav?? [/QUOTE]

Now I am curious too. Because still noone has answered you, right?
I just typed chav into google...

Chav is a derogatory slang term in popular usage throughout the UK. It refers to a subculture stereotype of a person who is uneducated, uncultured and prone to antisocial or immoral behaviour. The label is typically, though not exclusively, applied to teenagers and young adults of white working-class or lower-middle class origin. Chav is used for both sexes, where a male chav is sometimes referred to as a chavster and a female as a chavette. ...
I'm always getting called a goth at school, because I listen to rock music. I wore my Queen t-shirt in to school once and got called a goth, in fact they were slagging me about it. I just ignore them, it's useless telling them over and over again that I am not a goth because it doesn't sink in.

I do know a few people who would class themselves as goths but for god's sake why can't they just be left alone instead of being taunted about sleeping on graves? They haven't started saying that to me yet but they will.

O ! I didn't mean that ! I was just venting about "EMO" (the stereotype) and how I find depression to be a waste of time and supremely uncool.

This year, I had Queen pictures all over my school planner (which is like a half-sized notebook you're supposed to write your homework in) and someone told me that Queen was goth. I think at my school if there's a band and anyone in the band EVER wears black eye-liner, they're goth. Talk about stereotypes... !
Hahaha I never have any problems with wearing my Queen t-shirts outside, infact I get compliments everywhere I go, ask anyone whos with me and they will tell ya! It's great. :D

K... I KNOW DEAR, AND I WAS COMMENDING YOUR ATTITUDE TO IT, BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE TRULY WALLOW IN IT WHEN THEY KNOW THEY CAN CHANGE IT. SOME CANNOT, AND THATS SOMETHING THEY NEED HELP WITH, AND THATS DIFFERENT, THATS NOT SOMETHING TO GET UPSET OVER... BUT ANYWAYS...

YEA THATS PRETTY STUPID... I HATE STEREOTYPES... PEOPLE WILL SURPRISE YOU... AND SOMETIMES THEY FIT THE STEREOTYPES... BUT QUEEN IS SO FAR FROM GOTH ITS RIDICULOUS... BUT AGAIN, PEOPLE ARE IGNORANT MOST OF THE TIME, AND IGNORANCE MUST BE BLISS.... I DONT AGREE BECAUSE I WANT TO UNDERSTAND THINGS... BUT NOT EVERYONE THINKS THAT WAY...
