Fighting to survive in a world with the darkest power
He wasn't a gooner, cockney red or headhunter, but he did write Champions thinking about football.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.
He did play hockey.
"Please buy my upcoming album... I need the money"
Yes he liked football. His fav. team was the Oakland Raiders.
He use to play tennis, am I right? I have pictures of him in Ibiza, topless, with a tennis racket in a courts ground.

what type of BALLS did he use to win the championship?
I saw freddie with elton john at newcastle united when watford were playing them. Elton john was watfords chairman then!!!
Not sure weather freddie enjoyed the game though, although 2 years later queen came to st james park (newcastle united) so he must of been impressed with the atmosphere..........

i dont know whether he likes football or not but one thing i know is he didn't write the song for football anthem...he wrote it for the the gay community..
Straight from Freddie:

"I was thinking about football when I wrote it. I wanted a participation song, something that the fans could latch on to. It was aimed at the masses; I thought we'd see how they took it. It worked a treat. When we performed it at a private concert in London, the fans actually broke into a football chant between numbers. Of course, I've given it more theatrical subtlety than an ordinary football chant. You know me".

Circus Mag, Jan '78.

So it is about football, not the gay community.
