Actually I don't think they can stop them. I don't think you can stop an artist covering your song. You get a royalty as the writer, but you can't stop them. I think Brian has stated that it's only if someone twisted lyrics or something in a bad way he'd take action.
personally, I don't have a problem with 5ive or McFly or Robbie Williams. I'm really quite glad that they consider the songs worthy of covering.
Whether I think the result is good or not is secondary really. It just someone else re-inventing and re-interpreting the music. QueenZoners also do it here loads. Are those who post their versions not allowed?
