I want it back - I search the archives and look up user profiles on the old board, please do not delete it :(

I agree - it would be a shame to loose the old forum.

Me too, I miss looking at my post count.

If I knew where to find it I'd want it back too.

Yes, exactly. I like to look up if a user (if he posts something unlikely, for example)has registered 2 years ago and posts only very rarely or if he registered only to post the unlikely stuff in which case I dismsiss it as a wind up.

Also, the search functon worked while on the new board it never really worked for me. On the old board the archived posts went back to 2003 while on the new board the oldest posts are from January 2006 :(

YV - What do you prefer with the old user profile? Just curious. I promise I won't go into a rant.

I thought I just explained it: someone posts something which is hard to believe: is he/she a regular long time user or just a new spammer who enjoys posting on QZ because it's so easy? Do I have to take it seriously or can ignore it? If a user has posted only 40 messages in 4 years I probably forgot the name. But I take him/her more seriously than someone who registered a week ago and has 800 posts. Or someone who registered only to post that he won table tennis against Brian May :) Or registered to post a password protected winrar archive with rare material:)

Also: on the old board the search function is very good - or must I say: was? Let's say I type Rip Van Winkle into the name search bar, it comes up with ALL posts on ONE page and it tells me which forums the messages were posted in. So, if I look for an old thread it's enough to remember that you or PG or Mr. Scully posted in it and I surely find it. I also see if you started the thread or replied to it and how often you posted in it. On the new board the search function is pretty useless (sorry, Richard). When I enter a username I get maybe 20 pages of threads I would have to scroll through and no forums at all. For most search terms I get no results at all.

I was referring to your preference for looking up profiles on the old board. How was this better?

I forgot about the old board search could break up a search by forum. However the new board was,until recently, able to search for key words where as the old board could not (as I recall).

Serry asks for:
a) old forum
b) new forum for trolls, let them play in their kid's games there
c) to limit signature, not more than 40 letters for instance. I'm tired seeing replies where signature is about 4 or 5 lines and bigger than reply itself.

I never got to see the old forum...

just give me a forum where the search feature actually works and lets you find what you are trying to find..if it's there..
