"Barcleona " was not played or performed at the opening or closing ceremony of the olympic games in Barcelona 1992.
I do not want any google ads here.
Which is really unfortunate. It's an incredible song, and they used it on all the advertising on TV over here.
Frankly, the people in charge must've been mentally deficient in some vital area if they didn't take advantage of that song.
Well Freddie died before the olympic games. So it was a little hard for him to perform it.

Montserrat Caballe performed "Barcelona" together with Freddie, whose part was shown on a video screen, before the Champions League final Bayern München vs Manchester United 1999 in Barcelona. So - being dead did not prevent Freddie from performing the song :)
