I just found a CD in my collection, Syd Barrett the Peel Sessions. Any of you Syd experts know anything about this? Is it any good?

Your search is over.
As for 'missing Syd Barrett'... meh. Look - I believe too much love and energy is given to the dead, and never enough given to the living. Why didn't we miss him when he was alive? :P

I don't have Peel Sessions, but if I remember correctly I think it's some live stuff mainly from Madcap Laughs, with a few otherwise unreleased songs as well. It's probably pretty good, but I'd guess it's not as good quality as the studio albums.

Good grief. The time for fans to miss Syd was over 30 years ago , so unless you're a family member you're either dreaming or lying.
The last interview he gave was in 1971, and from then until now, there are only about 20 recorded encounters of any kind. I don't believe you were among the lucky 20 (especially as you're only 18 and in the USA) so get with the program.
It's sad that he's gone but apart from his family no one knows him well enough to actually miss him.

It's because my feelings towards Syd weren't just towards him as a musical artist, but also as a Floyd fan I just always had a kind of fondness and protectiveness of him. We did have updates every so often on Syd's activities (painting, etc...)

Caspar needs to stop making up bullshit stories about musicians being hardcore left wing socialists when most of them have never made statements saying where they belong politically.

I base myself upon what Roger Waters has said. If you don't like it, go complain with him, and HE'll tell you that he doesn't give a shit what you think, instead of ME telling you I don't give a shit what you think.

I am sure I speak for many of us here when I say that I don't give a shit what YOU think Mr. Quinn.
Always on the attack.

Indeed, I'm not overly familiar with the guy but from the posts I have read he seems be a bit of a pain in the arse. He also seems to feel he has something to prove.
Ironically he probably thinks his behaviour makes him look clever, when in actual fact it makes him look like a moody, insecure teenager. Hopefully his hormones will settle down eventually.
Probably best to try and ignore him.

Your opinion is worthless, seeing as the usual downpour of shit from your fingertips onto this forum is too.

It is all live, but quite good audio quality, surprisingly. But no liner notes or information on the recording session(s)!!!

Interesting! I haven't been able to track down anything other than Madcap Laughs, Barrett & the Greatest Hits CD... Everything else seems to be on backorder. I wonder if they will reissue them in the wake of his death...
