Hi all,
Got a quick question which has been puzzling me for a while. For the cover of the 1993 Freddie Best of Cd theres a picture of Freddie looking very smart and presantable, does anyone know how this photo shoot came about? Ive got a feeling it was for the Zabou soundtrack and the song he recorded with Jo Dare, but if so where is she in the photo? Seems strange he should have gone to the effort of a photo-shoot for an obscure little track and then for his duet partner to not even be in it. I could be wrong. Anyone know when it was taken?
Sorry for not having an image to upload as that would help matters! Has anyone got a link to it?
Thanks.

If you mean the 'Freddie Mercury Album' cover pic.. here's what the book (big Freddie solo box) says:
---Quote----
Freddie in what became known as 'the snooker outfit', taken in 1986 by Peter Hince. "Freddie was very into tuxedos and bow ties by this time. He said it was to do with getting old and calming down, but we called it the Barcelona effect, the influence of working with Montserrat Caballe." Freddie's personal favourite portrait, it was later used for the cover of 'The Freddie Mercury Album'
---------------
If that helps any :)

Thanks Mikhal, i should invest in the proper merchandise. I guess it was for the Zabou soundtrack then? Bit rude of Jo Dare not to turn up for it, the picture on the Zabou album only shows that pic of Freddie with a superimposed one of her. If i had my chance to have my photo taken with him i sure would have turned up.
It's on the cover of Zabou with picture of Jo - but was it shoot especially for that cover or not - I don't know...

yes, it looked late 86 to me, he'd changed his outlook after the Magic tour, possibly to do with fear/first symptoms of AIDS perhaps? A more sober dress, after the GP video he never camped it up again.

General Practitioner, I thought.
Also, how can a picture of Freddie that was widely released on a UK compilation be "obscure"?

Perhaps if you were blind all your life, and only JUST given sight.

I hadn't seen this one yet. Different pic (hands not folded), but obviously same photo session.

I called it obscure but maybe i should have called it mysterious, if it hadnt have been used on the 93 best of then it would have been a professional photo which few of us without the Zabou soundtrack would have seen, also just seems an interesting photo as it was from a time (late 86) when photos of him were starting to become less common.
