It is tricky hum, how you can get a true response from your idols. Of course it is an illusion to think that stars can respond personal to all the fanmail they get and the way it is treated by the stars is different.

How sure can we be that he realy responds when he reacts? Is it him himself, or does he has a wonderful ghost writer that helps him with it?

An answer from Paul Rodgers is not needed. The thread as mentioned above shows how arrogant he is with his fans. He is not intrested in his fans at all, and he doesnt even take a little effort to make the replies (not his, but from his anwerring machine) serious.
It is about the same as he is in the stuff that he did with Queen, I mean Brian and Roger. He is not intrested at all in the queen stuff (I bet he forgot the songs now fully, the 20 per cent he knew at the tour, that is), just in a free promotion for himself.
With this behavior, this arrogance to the people, the fans, that take time to try to reach him, he also made a bad move to the integrity of Queen.
Isnt it so that (esp. Brian) gives so high up of Paul Rodgers?
If he does, then he agrees with his attitude, the arrogance of PR during the tour and with how he treats his fans?
I am sure that a lot of PR fans are hurted by this unprofessional attitude. And as long as Queen (brian) is supporting him so high, how sure can we be that they (queen-brian) is integer in how he treats his fans as well?
Perhaps is it time for good mr Brian May to bring some rest in the queen circle, with a clear statement in this

Maybe it's just me...but I don't think that fans are ever "owed" any kind of response. And when people start posting "here's what I said" and "here's what he said back" in public forums, then it becomes something about the poster, and about his/her needing validation.

If I as a fan feel like writing to the PERSON Brian May (or any other idol), and the guy/woman does not feel like responding to me (or to my questions) or to others, than I should not doubt directly if Brian (or my idol) does not care for its fans.

In case we DO get something in response, just be happy ... BUT as brightly outlined by you, Brian (or Jen) will decide themselves to respond IF they feel like (and they have done so on many occasions).
They have been so kind to have this site online anyway!
He is not obligated to reply , nor does it imply that he has less or no appriciation towards his fans.
So please stop your insane ramblings about what you think we should be owed when writing to him (or other idols we might have) or make ASSUMPTIONS towards what he should do are if you are doubting the fact that Brian cares for his fans....
The guy gives us music. And if we recieve answers from him (or from his representatives) when writing an email, just keep the smile on your face, but do not doubt Brian as he does not care for his fans in case he does not respond (or respond personally) to our letters/emails!

And I dont expect an answer from any of the queenzoners in yes, it's true, brian answers his emails himself -or not-. Not many of the readers shall know the truth in that.
I think it is fair to the fans, from ANY artist or star, that they know who is realy behind the messages. So far I have no doubt in Brians' answers, but reading the behavior of people so close to him as PR, it scares me and I wonder how it works.

I met Paul Rodgers in Budapest and he was extremely gracious with the fans, even though he realized perfectly well that most (if not all) of us were Queen fans. He didn't go back to the hotel until he had given an autograph to everyone who asked.

I doubt he needs to do this in order increase his PR. I doubt that is why he does it.
It might be better to take the approach Brian does in not automatically replying in a seemingly personal matter, and only replying in specific cases, but Paul's approach does not, to me, mean he doesn't care at all, just that he (or his employees) thought that an automatic response was a good thing.

Hans - when I met Paul, he was extremely kind and I enjoyed talking to him. More than to Brian or Roger. Roger looked like "security, get rid of these fans" while Brian was very polite but in the same time you could see that he wasn't much interested in any taling, he was signing stuff and in the same time thinking about his dinner or something. (I don't blame him at all, he must have got tired by all the requests for autographs).
But in the same time I sort of agree with you. The "stars" don't owe us anything - but if they establish an email address and invite fans to write to them, then it's obvious that we're disappointed if intelligent questions remain unanswered (laziness!) or if they use some automatic reply (mega-laziness!).
Difficult to judge if I'd rather receive an automatic reply from Paul or no reply at all from Brian.
