If Freddie was ambiguous about his sexuality, there were good reasons for it. Back in the 70s and 80s, coming out as gay would have been career suicide. I think musicians in those days said "bisexual" to kind of have one foot in, one foot out. Keep a low profile, be seen with a women now and then, just to keep people guessing.
Plus, it just wasn't about Freddie, there was Brian, John and Roger to think about. He held there careers in his hands too. I'm sure no one in the group wanted to see their records in the bargain bin.
