US TV VIEWERS: Freddie Mercury Impersonator?!?

I don't know if this aired anywhere else but the US. . .

There was a reality tv show years ago that took regular people that could sound like their idols and changed their clothes and their look to replicate the legendary singer. I was just a kid but I remember it. The Final two competitors (the best) were a Freddie Mercury impersonator and an Aretha Franklin impersonator. Aretha was bad (she didn't look anything like the original and didn't really sound like her) but she had a sad story so she won. At that time I remember thinking that Freddie should have won.

Does anyone else remember this show?

Does anyone have any footage or can direct me to a youtube or something?

I always wanted to see it again after I really started getting into Queen! Thanks!
Better yet, the guy that sang as Freddie even posted on QZ at the time.

Can't remember the name of the show, but if you do find it, try a search for it in old QZ threads. There was a big discussion of the show at the time.

I remember a show called "The Great Pretenders". With reeeeally peppey hostesses...
I remember that show. Kid rom 90's hip hop dup Kid and Play was the host, right? The guys from the House Party Movies? I think the show was called your big break and people dressed up as music icons (whether they looked like them or not) and song kareoke versions of the songs (well kareoke as much as American Idol is kareoke). Hope that helps. Just trying to be a productive QZer,
I think I know what you're talking about and at the time that aired, I was like, let Freddie guy win!
Ah, "Performing As...". Wasn't the best night for TV, I must say.

There's the show's listing.

"Performing As..." was a different show than "Your Big Break." Both, however, had Freddie impersonators on.
